Set in Russia in 1927 this much loved hilarious Mel Brooks comedy classic is the tale of ... more
a former aristocrat (Ron Moody) who is now a clerk under the new Soviet regime. When he learns that his dying mother in law sewed a fortune in family jewels into one of twelve dining room chairs he sets off across Russia to find it - with an opportunist (Frank Langella) a priest (Dom DeLuise) and his former servant (Mel Brooks) all in equal pursuit. Although the plot of The Twelve Chairs is wild enough to have been created by Mel Brooks it's actually based on a Russian story written by two Soviet journalists Ilya Ilf and Yevgenni Petrov in the 1920s.

Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip
Ever since I was a teenager I had always wanted to go to NewYork City. It was probably the influence of TV shows such as Friends and Will & Grace but since then I've always wanted to see what life in the big apple was like.
There's the shopping (my number one priority!), the sights, the shows, the food, the list is endless.
I was nearly 25 when I finally made it over there, as part of a family trip with my mum, dad and sister.
I'd never been on an aeroplane for longer than two hours before, and I'm quite a nervous flyer, but the seven hours on Continental Flight CO21 from Manchester to Newark, New Jersey absolutely flew by (pardon the pun)!
Other friends and colleagues who had travelled to America previously had said about the lines at immigration so as soon as we landed everyone was ready and we walked as fast as we ...

Advantages: A lot to see & do, has something to offer for everyone Disadvantages: Too much to see and do, can be exhausting, expensive hotels
building - the aging beauty
One of the things that we wanted to do in NYC was to go to the top of the Empire State Building. We went up there on the first day and we found it by "accident". We walked around just checking out the neighbourhood around the hotel and we went into a Walgreen's to buy some water. Well, I stuck my head out one of the side entrances to the store and I found myself in the lobby of Empire State Building. I think it is amazing to think about the fact that this building was built over 70 years ago! Once I had seen the lobby we decided to go to the observatory deck on the 86th floor. We had to wait a few minutes to get tickets. If you buy the tickets separately they cost 12$ for adults. We went for the NewYork CityPass. If you buy the combo of the observatory deck and NewYork Skyride I think that it will cost you about ...

Advantages: delicious cheesecake, very easy to prepare, success every time, short time to prepare Disadvantages: takes ages to cool down, best done night before serving
cook, her cheesecake was always a delight, despite using a lot of ingredients I don?t bother with, nor do I have the time to bake a very intricate cheese cake. I never had the time to follow her recipes and tend to take the easy way out.
Dr. Oetker are a brilliant when it comes to quick and easy to prepare cake mixes, however, the NewYork style cheesecake is not what I call a last minute treat. It does take only a short time to prepare but the baking and cooling down time in the oven and then further cooling in the fridge take up the best part of 6 hours (three hours in the fridge you don?t really need to supervise and time).
NewYork Style baked Cheesecake mix
I?ve been using this cheesecake mix for quite a while now and it always turns out absolutely brilliant. I suggest you don?t prepare it last minute but maybe the day before ...
