Gower Holiday Village

Advantages: Wonderful beaches, and countryside and great food.
Disadvantages: Some beaches are inaccessable to some people due to steep climbs down, and back up cliffs.

I have to disagree with Walshies comment and agree with LJJames. There are many bungalows on the Gower Holiday village, about 70 I think. I believe you can book directly with the holiday village, which may well be what Walshies did, to get his poor accomodation, but there are many bungalows that are privately owned, one of which we booked. See www.number62.co.uk. No. 62 was very comfortable indeed. The beds are the best I have every slept in away from home, like marshmellows! The crockery and pots and pans were the quality in any normal home, and not junk bought from a thrift shop. The whole ambiance was modern, clean, functional and welcoming, and it truly was a pleasure to stay there. Jules (the owner) has dogs and very much welcomes dogs (there are thows on sofa's and dog bowls and stone and wooden floors ...

sykes holiday cottages 'don't care attitude'

Advantages: I will let you know when I find some!!
Disadvantages: not interested in problems, properties not clean, mis-advertisement of properties

Earlier this year I booked a holiday through Sykes holiday cottages to Biffins Berth in Whitby for August 2009. The cottage was shown in the brochure to be one of three and was described as having an enclosed communal garden. When we arrived we found that we were on a holiday site with approx 50 other properties of which there had been no mention and that our enclosed communal garden was actually the site playground complete with bbq. In my opinion this should have been mentioned, we went there with two young children and a dog, the dog could not even go outside because of other holidaymakers children and the playground was used until very late at night (noisily). It is my view that Sykes do not care once they have your money and will fob you off at every turn, be very aware that they don't mention all the relevant details in ...

Avoid Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parcs - go elsewhere

Advantages: The area is good
Disadvantages: Woolacombe Bay Parcs are a leftover from post war rubbish - not suitable for today

We booked a Saturday to Saturday touring caravan holiday on the Twitchen site to be told in unfriendly terms when we arrived that we had made a mistake and our pitch was booked Friday to Friday meaning we would have to move pitch for one night ( a major hassle) or leave early. The warden was rude and aggressive, the outdoor pool was frequently closed due to "leaves" which was a joke and the whole place had a run down, smelly and uncared for feel. They made an error in the cafe and charged a full meal price when we ordered a special from the board. The pools and changing rooms were not well cleaned. Later they apolgised and admitted that they had made a mistake in our booking but we lost a night and received no compensation. We shall never go there again. Woolacombe is a lovely place but avoid these Holiday Parcs if you want to have ...
