    1car1 1car1 is a car and van rental company with different branches through UK. They work mainly through their website: http://www.1car1.co.uk. HOW TO BOOK A CAR. The website looks fine, they have different links in the top of the website which allow you to go directly into their different options: Car hire, Van hire, People Carriers, Flexi Leasing and Contract Hire.     After hiring a car with this company last December (07) and being accused of causing additional damage to the vehicle on its return I was stunned to be charged £500 excess and told if there was any money left following the repair it would be refunded to me. After months of letters to 1Car1, their regulator The BVRLA, the office of fair trading etc etc I was able to get sight of the Invoice fpr the repair of the vehicle only to find that I hd been charged for every minor repair to the vehicle in addition to the one which I was accused of causing.     We hired a car for 6 weeks and the service from booking to drop off was impecable. 1car1 was the most resonable quote we got and included fully comprehensive insurance. A phone call from the airport on arrival (as directed -Manchester Office) resulted in us being picked up within 10 minutes . We drove a short distance to the office to complete documentation. Everything was very smooth. efficient and the staff were absolutely wonderful. We arrived very late but no complaints from the service staff, infact they were very welcoming .     Similar to other experiences on here unfortunately. We had twice rented vans from 1car1 and had had a reasonably good run of it. The staff were a bit sloppy and waiting times were poor. There was also confusion over what documentation was required, from what it overtly stated during the booking process and what was requested at the office. The issue was on the 3rd rental when the car was returned with minuscule scuff on the back bumper.     The van we hired was not ready when we arrived - 35 mins later a van was driven from another site. No markings to say it was 1car1. No idea where they got it from. It was then washed and checked in the garage. We weren't given the opportunity to check it When we returned the van they tried to charge us for chips in the windscreen. These were so tiny I could barely see them. The person checking the car went straight to them, as if he already knew they were there. I have won the fight for this - because how can you check a windscreen for damage when its covered in water. The van also had no fuel ... more
