For those seeking art and culture, there are galleries and museums galore--not to mention one of the world's most famous and thriving theater districts. For those who love parks, there are big parks, small parks, parks with fountains and ponds and the art of the footpath with its turnings--not to mention parks with black swans and benches for people watching. For those interested in the conviviality of the locals, there are pubs and restaurants to suit every taste and pocketbook. And for those on a quest for royalty, there are palaces, pageantry, and (if one is very patient and very lucky) the fleeting glimpse of a royal personage.
For Himself and Yours Truly, there are bits and bobs of all these attractions, plus bookshops on Charing Cross Road...

Advantages: Clean, Friendly, Good Value for Money Disadvantages: Road Noise
...On Valentines Day 2006 my sister-in-law gave birth to my niece, Rosa. As my brother and sister-in-law live in London and I live in Stoke-on-Trent I was dying to pay them a visit to see little Rosa.
My brother suggested that we booked a room in the Parkside Hotel, Finsbury Park, as it is only a two minute walk from their flat and it is one of the nicer hotels in the area.
We had a look on their website and were impressed enough to book a room for the following Saturday night.
On the Saturday morning, we got up early and I drove myself and my boyfriend, Jay, down to London. I printed directions to the hotel and while they got us there ok, my brother told us later that there is a better route, which would have cut out sitting in traffic for an hour. But alas we got there in one piece.

Advantages: Wonderful surroundings Disadvantages: Expensive if you have to pay full price
...Hubby and I had a wonderful Christmas present from our daughter and her partner – a weekend in London and a show! WOW! Were we impressed! She had secretly liaised with my boss so that I could have a long weekend in London. So, on Friday 14 January, off we trotted to London!
She chose The Rembrandt Hotel which is situated in Knightsbridge, in fact, it is opposite the Natural History Museum/Victoria & Albert Museum. We did ’hum and ha’ a bit as to whether we should drive up or get the train.
