Advantages: Fantastic Location - you couldn't wish for a nicer part of the city to stay in Disadvantages: Reception staff are a little unfriendly - DO NOT USE THE IN ROOM PHONE!!!!!!
I visited The Westin in October 2005 as a gift from my parents for my 21st birthday, they treated myself and my boyfriend to a 5 night stay in a superior room. I'll start by giving you some afcts about the hotel and then i'll give you my experience.
The Westin NewYork at TimesSquare is on the corner of 43rd Street and 8th Avenue, it has 863 rooms and 126 club rooms and suites. It has a restaurant (shula's steak house) a bar (bar 10) and a coffee shop that does eat in and take away (Cosi's). It has 24 hour room service, a gym and spa, a ticket desk and a gift shop.

If you didn't want to eat in the hotel there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel as well as MacDonalds and other fast food places.
We also made use of the concierge service to a rrange a car to take us back to the airport (we were particularly concerned at the threat of a transit strike). The concierge clerk was helpful and ensured we would have a car. Priced slightly over what you could have got on the street but it gave us peace of mind that we would be picked up and also the set fare.
I thouroughly enjoyed my trip to Newyork and it was made even more specialby this above-avergae hotel. It was central enough to everything we wanted to do but off the busy, busy streets so you didn't feel in the hub of things all the time. ...
Advantages: Been There Done That Disadvantages: Tourism and Over Crowding
Don't get me wrong, I used to live in NewYork and I'm a big fan of the city. But what I will never understand is why tourists head to TimesSquare, like moths heading to light!
TimesSquare is a busy, stressful and fairly dull place to 'hang-out' while in the city. Although it does attract a few great landmarks and can be a fun photo opportunity - it is nothing to get overly excited about.
Area's such as the Lower east side and Soho are now attracting many more tourists due to the regeneration and introduction of many new stylish bars, shops and restaurants. They are safe areas and full of gret personalities who can be very welcoming to visitors.
But you want Theatre right?
Well yes you can pay over the odds to see a Musical or spend hours in line waiting for cheap tickets... but why not check out some great off ...
