I used to be totally into the Indie scene but now Ive been more influenced into rock but a friend asked if I wanted to go to 42nd Street and I had always heard good things so I decided to head on down. Its situated on bootle St in deansgate just off the main road. The entrance is plainly just a door with the flatboars sign with the 42nd street logo so if you didnt know what youwas looking for it could be pretty hard to find. The club is upstairs of the building so there are a few stairs and therefore not really suitable for those in a wheelchair or difficulties with climbing stairs such as crutches. The entrance fee wasn't that bad, I paid £4 after 10:30pm with an NUS card which is about the same as 5th Avenue and other clubs. The dancefloor is located in the middle of the room between two bars and lit up with UV lights and some disco so its quite dark but you're still able to see. The bar provides a selection of drinks, mostly bottles so you cant' have a full pint of strongbow like i requuested and the prices aren't that bad. About £1.50 for an alcopop and £1.90 for a bottle of strongbow, the prices tend to be higher on friday and weekend than throughout the week. Personally I didnt reciognise most of the songs but they did play a select few everyone knows like Stone Roses and Blink 182 so it wasnt that bad. theres seating area for about 20 people on the padded chairs and 2 outside style tables and a vending machine for the midnight munchies which is proced fairly, something most clubs don't offer. Some frisays they even do an all-nighter until 6am, will have to check on dates previosuly though as its not every friday. i fink its either once or twice a month. The toilets were realy clean and I never had a problem with bottles or glasses on the floor which can be a danger in places like 5th avenue. its not a club I'd prefer to go for first choice but I wouldn't mind it and would go if friends wanted to and music varies depending on the night. 1 night is From Manchester With love (all manchester band such as oasis), Everything Indie etc

Meet a dewy-eyed ingenue, a gee-whiz tenor, stuck-up stars, hard-up producers, brassy ... more
blondes and shady ladies from the 80s. They're all denizens of 42nd Street, belting out ageless Harry Warren/Al Dubin songs and tapping out Busby Berkeley's sensation...
Advantages: Inexpensive drinks promos and entry, good music, central location, friendly staff, seating provided Disadvantages: Decor isn't as 'plush' as some other clubs, if you're bothered about that sort of thing!
