Advantages: Easy to get to Disadvantages: Expensive
...What a waste of time. The London Eye is frankly appalling, not only do you have to queue for hours to get even near the ticket office, the prices at extremely high (family of 2 adults and a child will be about £25), and once more the ‘flight’ only lasts 30minutes. We took our flight at dusk, which was NOT a good idea as almost nothing of London could be seen – apart from the lights of London City Airport in the distance. Each ‘capsule’ on the wheel can hold about 10 people comfortably, and has handy compass directions on the walls – so as to orientate yourself. There are seats inside the pods –be they only wooden, and in daylight, the view around London would be fantastic. There was also the provision of an ‘air-sickness’ area, where, if the need arose you could disgorge yourself...

Advantages: Views, Punctual, Clean, Fast. Disadvantages: Does not serve the whole of London
...it is driverless) which kids (and mums and dads - practically everyone) will love. Another nice touch for the tourists is the commertary sometimes provided by a member of staff on board. This is usually around the Canary Wharf (and Isle of Dogs) area and is very interesting.

Advantages: free for the parks and gardens and only £3 entry into the other sectors. A great day out for both young and old Disadvantages: Can be difficult to get to with kids as it's a tube and bus ride
...Syion House is a Castle opposite Kew Gardens. There is a large garden that streches down onto the Thames river.
There is a few activities apart from relaxing next to the river. There is a reptile park (snakes & crocodiles), walk-in butterfly house and a large lake that one can either sit next to for free or pay £19 for a days fishing. Difficult to believe it's in central London. I chanced my luck and caught a 6 pound rainbow trout. There is also a farmers market, nursery and outdoor center.
There is a neighbouring farm, with cows and horses for the kids to see as well as a variety of ducks, swans and the ever impressive peacock.
Syion Park can be reached by car with a large car park or by tube to Gunnersbury and then the 256 bus.
Advantage is that it is free for the parks and gardens and only £3 entry into the other sectors. A great...
