Advantages No advantages
Disadvantages Diifficulty getting deposit back. They have access to your bank and can take more money
My son has had the same problems as most other people who have left comments on this site. He hired a van on 13th January, returned it on 14th with a full tank of fuel and in perfect condition. We expected to receive the refund within a few days but after a couple of weeks we had heard nothing. Both my son and myself made many phonecalls. We were told that they had a problem with streamline and the refund kept being returned to them. (All complete lies). I tried to get names of the people I was talking to and I was told by one guy he was called 'Dave Smith' which I absolutely do not believe!
To cut a long story short, we rang a helpline and were told to write a letter which we did. When A1 received this letter, they took another £41 from my son's bank (four weeks after the event) even though my son had left the van with a full tank of fuel. I think they did this out of spite because we 'dared' to write to them about it. We now have to try and get this back as well.We have been advised by the helpline to write a final letter which we are now doing. This helpline have said that they will only take up with Trading Standards if they get enough complaints about this company. CAN I URGE EVERYBODY WHO IS GOING THROUGH THIS DISGUSTING TREATMENT TO RING THE HELPLINE (SEARCH FOR TRADING STANDARDS ONLINE). IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS, MAYBE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO STOP THIS OUTRAGEOUS TREATMENT!
