My partner and I visited Girona in May 2007. We had pre booked the Ciutatde Girona but we weren't at all sure of what to expect. We travelled by bus from the airport to Girona bus station, (approx. 20minutes), and from there we took a taxi to the hotel which was about a 5minutes drive. There are, I believe, 2 buses an hour from the airport. The cost was around £2 i think.
Our first impression of the hotel was that it was spotless and stylish, couldn't have been more central as it was right in the heart of the old town. The reception area was modern, bright and comfortable though minimalistic. The free mini bar and welcome drink ( I believe it was a local wine) with some biscuits were much appreciated. I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use.
It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km.
Arrivals
You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few.

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view.
