One of the fabulous buildings in Seville, originally built in1927 as a residential building for the Exhibition. it is now the AC Ciudad de Sevilla. I loved all the exhibition buildings dotted around the city centre and was disappointed to find few remaining features within the hotel, although the exterior is wonderful. As with other AC group hotels it has a very modern interior. As we entered from the bright, white, facade, I found the stark, dark reception area quite incongruous. The reception staff were helpful and spoke good English. (We had already experienced this, trying to get directions to navigate the Seville ring road and locate the hotel!)
Our double room had air-conditioning, a spacious bed, and a view over an inner white-washed courtyard and Gaudiesque tower. It had a very clean, modern bathroom with all my favourite AC free goodies, including the replica golf ball soap! The usual generous and welcome complimentary mini-bar was stocked with soft drinks, water and beer.
The rooftop swimming pool is very attractive and a reasonable size although we didn't use it. ( Too busy sight-seeing!) As in all communal areas of the hotel, this was very clean. The corridor in front of the lifts was immaculate, probably because the man with the floor buffer was there every time we tried to use the lift!
A possible disadvantage of this hotel is the location. It is situated in a nice residential area some distance from the centre of the city. It is close to the Parque de Maria Luisa and the Plaza de Espana and it is walkable to the centre. However there is a good, fairly frequent bus service which leaves from the front of the hotel. If like me your local public transport in the UK is expensive and dirty, don't be disheartened! This is a clean, air-conditioned, pleasant vehicle with a screen on board which shows which stop the bus is approaching and where you are on the route. (It also shows news headlines) All for 1 Euro! You also have the benefit of a convenient local supermarket to purchase olives, wine etc and not far to carry them back.
We stayed there last September and got a good deal for room only, booking direct on the hotel website. This year prices seem to range from 58 - 86 Euros per night for a room. ( You do have to pay extra to use the hotel car park)
