Advantages: Great price, free mini-bar, good service, free footie! Disadvantages: some distance from the centre
Carlsberg don't do hotels, but if they did it might be like the ACHotel in Jerez. It is a modern hotel which was built adjoining the Chapin Olympic Football Stadium on the outskirts of Jerez. OK, it's not Madrid but our six day stay last September did coincide with a fixture against CD Castellon.
The large window of our room opened out into the 22,000 seater stadium and the electric atmosphere of the live game. We had a better view than some of the supporters (and we had our free mini-bar close at hand for half-time refreshments. (The hotel provides free soft drinks and beer but they didn't seem to mind us using it for our own purchases - sherry, wine, beer, jamon, cheese, ....) Or we could relax on our large freshly laundered sheets, or use our sparkling en-suite bathroom.

Advantages: Great drum build. Disadvantages: Will need extra spending on it in order to get it up to scratch.
disgusting sounds resembling baked bean cans being hit. The Pearl Forum I feel is infinitely better than other starter kits on the market and looks fairly smart with it's black coating. Although I say black coating as this is the colour of mine, the Pearl Forum comes in a number of other colours including Deep Blue, Charcoal, and Red Wine.
For £500 your money will provide you with:
- 22x18 bass drum
- 12x9 & 13x10 mounted toms
- 16x16 floor tom
- 14x5.5 wood snare drum
- 14" hi-hats
18" Pearl Crash/Ride cymbal
The build quality of the drums themselves is great and they still look as strong now as they did back when I bought them a few years back. Although the build quality of the drums themselves is good, you will find that the Pearl drum skins you are provided with aren't particularly great and so you may find that the heads ...
Advantages: Location. Value for money. Disadvantages: Getting a bit delapidated.
Much as though the bathrooms in particular are becoming rather dilapidated, this hotel still represents good value for its price band.
It is the tallest Hotel in London.
The rooms themselves are good. The beds are comfortable, but occasionally I have found dirty fridges with leftover food inside. They assured me they would tighten up on this, as I had this same problem on more than one occasion.
The common areas have recently been refurbished and there is a bar which is quite fun in the evenings. It is used by quite a few airline staff.
It is located just off the Cromwell and Gloucester Roads, SW7 and has close access to the tube (2 minutes) and thus Heathrow Airport, as well as being on lines which take you to the City, Victoria (for Gatwick) and the West End. Buses are not so good (only 2 routes I think), but taxis are ...
