Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Dirty, Noisy but part of the place
...I would strongly advise anybody who has not visited New YorkCity to start saving their pennies and to plan a trip to the greatest city on earth.Where do you start on an opinion of NYC?
First of all it is the city that never sleeps, the city has a buzz all of its own. It is just like it seems of movies. Just walking down the street you get a buzz of the place. I thought it would be fairly unsafe to walk around at night but it is fine so long as you stay in the busy areas.
I loved Central Park, Statue of Liberty, battery Park, Ellis Island, UN Building, Empire State (go at night), GreenwichVillage - the list goes on & on and I know that I have only seena fraction of the place.
The place is briliant - Go & see for yourself....

Advantages: Very exciting and cheap Disadvantages: Dirty, noisy and busy
...We booked a cheap flight and apartment online and arrived in New York late at night in the middle of a very cold November.
We were strongly advised to only use a yellow cab, however we were confronted several times by casual taxi drivers but stood our ground.
We stayed in Little Italy, a little off the beaten track, but ideal to reach other parts of NewYork. The highlights of the trip were the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and Macy's store. Not for the feint-hearted, floor after floor of clothing, kitchen items, you name it - well worth saving up for.
The food was a little disappointing; however next time we will explore GreenwichVillage and other parts of the city....

Advantages: Plenty to do for all budgets Disadvantages: Be aware of your safety, and know where you are going and how to get back.
...I would begin by having cocktails in the Rainbow Rooms at the top of the Rockefellar Plaza, fabulous views as seen in 'Sleepless in Seattle' etc, BUT make you you are dressed in your very best, I got turned away for wearing shorts OOps! They were smart shorts! Then hail a cab and go to Greenwichvillage for some pasta and then park yourself for the rest of the evening in one of the many bars that has live entertainment, you could find somewhere quite easily just strolling around. Or if you prefer, a good night club in downtown Manhatten is 'the City', expensive to get in , pretend you are someone famous, obscure and very English and you could get in for nothing!...

If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
