...As a native of Donegal I found it interesting to find some reviews of my lovely county. Donegal without doubt is the nicest county in Ireland scenery wise and people wise, although some other counties have some wonderful features there's a wonderful mix in Donegal. If you wanted to start I'd suggest South West Donegal and go up along the coastline. In Donegal town make sure you visit the Castle and the ruined Abbey down by the quay. Then carry on to Killybegs home of Ireland's largest fishing port. After Killybegs there are some lovely villages intrhough including Kilcar famous for it's tweeds and Carrick. Go from Carrick to Ardara via the Glengesh pass which has one of the most beautiful views in the world. Other wonderful places to visit include Glenveagh National Park, Grianan Aileach an ancient stone fort in the Gateway to Inishowen...

Advantages: History brought back to life by today's generation. Disadvantages: None.
...checkered one, though one that is shared with the audience in such a way as to leave an amazing sense of having belonged to an event for the three to four hour duration.
Other events at the abbey include an exhibition of Vintage cars which is held annually, and a fair where you can watch wood and stone carvers busy with their crafts.
What I like about Bon Repos, which is on the border between Cote D'Amor and Morbihan between Gouarec and Mur de Bretagne, is that it is a site that can be enjoyed by anyone. The picnic areas next to the river offer both sun lit areas, and shady ones. Fishing is permitted with a licence easily available from tobacco shops in neighbouring towns, and the tranquility that this little enchanted piece of French soil offers is astounding by todays rush and hustle and bustle.
There is no entry fee, since there is little...

...We visited Buckfast Abbey a couple of years ago. Its free to get in and wander about, but the book / souvenir shop is quite expensive. The grounds are well maintained by the Monks and there is another shop which sells their wine, confectionary, and pottery which is quite reasonable.
Parking is free and the Abbey is spectacular to look at with its architecture. We went late season, so it was fairly quiet and we did feel that we had to be very respectful as this is an occupied Abbey and the Monks were ever present.
There are good toilet facilities.
Its a peaceful place and its easy to while away a couple of hours at least and for the more religiously minded, a good experience of Abbey life....

This is a tale of buyer beware as we visited Wroxall Abbey recently. It was a wedding function and the room was £145 for the night including breakfast.
We arrived and entered the estate along a tree lined avenue which led to the mansion house. The... more
