Advantages: Quiet with Beautiful scenery Disadvantages: poor nightlife, nothing to see apart from the views
...Holy Loch and Mountains in all Directions.
Accommodation
It has several Hotels such as the McColls Hotel which has a lot of older visitors who usually go on long weekend coach trips. As for Bed and Breakfasts the place is swarming with them, nearly all the homes on the Sea front are B&B's and the seafront is VERY long.
How to Get There
There is no railway or airport to Dunoon so you have to travel by road. You can either go by Coach or car. You also have the option of taking a four hour drive round to Dunoon or getting the ferry from Gourock or Greenock which'll take half an hour but will set you back at least £10 for a car and there are passenger fares on top of that which aren't too bad.
As i say this place is only worth checking out if you are looking for some stunning scenery and a bit of a rest. I lived in Dunoon from 1989 to 1993...

Advantages: Friendly, excellent service, comfortable and good location Disadvantages: None!
...Today we (regrettably) returned to London from our very enjoyable stay at Sampsons Farn Country Hotel. We loved the setting - wonderful walks and great locaion. The room was very comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a fantastic meal one evening in the restaurant - compliments to the chef. We have only ever seen food prepared that looked anything like we had the pleasure of eating, and that was on TV but to eat it as well was something we shall remember forever. It was fabulous. Very tasty - cooked to perfection and served by friendly, smiling staff. We loved the friendly atmosphere and will definitely be returning and recommending Sampsons to all of our fiends and family. Infact we found nothing at all to fault about Sampsons!...

Advantages: quality food and plenty of it, sufficent parking, close to town centre, enconomical - guest house rates but hotel service Disadvantages: few beers on tap, can be too quiet
...I stay at various Hotels and Bed and Breakfasts around the country, presently working in York I have found a very nice
quiet hotel near the city center that doesn't cost a fortune.
The place is called ABBOTS MEWS HOTEL and it is just to the West of York town centre about 8 mins walk.
Advantages.
Approximately £50.00 bed/breakfast/evening meal. A car park that is large enough.
Friendly staff and an excellent evening meal menu with something for everyone.
Service in the dining room is prompt and efficient, checking in/out doesn't take forever as at other hotels.
It really is 8 mins from the town center but is also very quiet, no traffic noise or drunken yobs heading home from
the pub. It appears to be favoured by older guests who revisit every few years and of couse people like myself
seeking quality economical accomodation close...
