The loud noise in the toilet is the TV! Advantages: Central Location, comfortable Disadvantages: Cramped rooms, broken cots, noisy The Crowne Plaza Hotel Abu Dhabi A few weeks ago I was in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates for a couple of days. Wife and baby came with me. It was only the second time that the little one had been with us in a hotel, so we wondered how he would take to it! LOCATION The hotel is very central in Abu Dhabi. Coming into the city from the airport it is about a 25 minute drive; coming in on the main road, once you're in the city centre ... ...easiest to go past the Crowne Plaza then take the first right then right again. You enter into a small hallway from where an escalator takes you up to the lobby and reception on the second floor. When we arrived a porter took our bags and loaded them onto a trolley. We went up the escalator to reception where we were greeted by a friendly receptionist. My "Six Continents" card was in one of the bags so we waited for them to appear. And waited. And ... The best of both worlds Advantages: Apartment independence with Hilton hotel comfort Disadvantages: Cheap soap dispenser, some slow service ...run by the Hilton, The Hilton Corniche Residence The apartments are located quite centrally just off The Corniche, what was the coast road until they reclaimed another patch of land, building out into the bay. Thankfully the new strip of land is being used for parks abd public areas, not building. What was The Corniche will now be the Old Corniche and the new seafront road will be called... well, you guess. LOBBY AND ARRIVAL The lobby is simple and ... ...to cook for themselves, the Hilton Residence does also offer dining facilities. Hampton's Restaurant is open all meal times, with a simple but sufficient buffet. It is light and bright, with the nice, large Hilton coffee mugs for breakfast. Millennium Hotel - Abu Dhabi Advantages: Location Disadvantages: More of a business Hotel than for lesuire ...last year and choose the Millennium Hotel to stay in. We managed to find a taxi easily enough at Abu Dhabi airport and after a short drive (30mins) we arrived at the hotel. On first impressions I was a little disappointed. I had all these grand images in my head, but in reality the hotel seemed pretty standard. The room itself was quite basic (considering the price we paid), but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel does have ... ...side) and area for catching some sun. Getting around Abu Dhabi was fairly easy, taxi's are always available and very cheap. One trip I would recommend is the desert safari and evening barbecue. Driving up and down the sand dunes in the deserts was thrilling, I was holding onto the seat so tight and had my eyes closed for the majority of it, but It was worth it. Going up to the Hilt In Ya Advantages: Beach Club, Restaurants, Service, Choice Disadvantages: None really. ...or both. Either way, the Hilton is well located for both. OK the hotel is not actually on the beach - but it is just across the road and there is a handy subway that goes almost from the front door of the hotel to the Hiltonia beach club. THE BEST HOTEL EVER Advantages: location - in central Abu Dhabi, has a shopping mall, spacious rooms, safe, clean, fitness centre Disadvantages: construction works on the neighbouring island, small beach ...reasonable. Even though the hotel is now neighbouring with some construction works, I am still going to choose it the next time I visit Abu Dhabi. There is also Zen Spa, offering you fantastic ways to relax, a playground for the children, and a creche. The fitness centre and swmming pools are also fantwastic. After a day at the pool and the beach you can take a lift from the hotel straight to Abu Dhabi Mall.
