My company assigned me to Ghana for a period of one year and during this time I visited many areas in Ghana.
Probably the most wonderful of all was the Aburi Botanical Gardens.
Situated about 2 hours drive from the capital city of Accra.
These gardens were opened in 1890 according to the guide.
The entrance fee is very nominal (about PDS 1.00 - one pound)
These gardens contain an unbelievable amount of species in trees, plants and flowers.
You take the guided tour through these gardens (its actually a Tropical Forest)on special tracks.
They have a wonderful waterfall which just pops up in front of you right in the middle of this forest and you can walk right behind it on a special track.
Also one of the attractions is a bridge made only of rope with a plank in the middle about two feet wide. This bridge runs over a river and is suspended about twenty feet over the river and is at least 100 meters long. Its real scary at first but then you overcome it, but make sure you dont look down.
Its very hard to explain but its something like you see in some movies with the jungle scenes where sometimes the sun is totally blocked by the vegetation and the sound of birds and insects is always around you.
