I was in Accra Ghana for 6 years from 1985 to 1991. It is the capital. It is a very lively city. Especially where i used to live "Cantonment" which was a few minutes drive from the labadi beach. They have many hotels and amongst them which i remember and are reasonable are the Labadi Beach Hotel and the Golden Tulip Accra Hotel. The people of this country are very honest and loving. Many people from different nationalities have come to settle in ...

Advantages: Business Class seats and inflight service. Disadvantages: Transit at Rome and punctuality
Alitalia's Business Class is suprisingly good.
I recently flew from Accra in Ghana to Bombay (India)with them and their flight was in two sectors. First was the Accra to Rome sector and next was the Rome to Bombay (Mumbai) sector.
On both these sectors they are still using First Class seats in Business Class on the MD-11 aircraft.
Basically the seats have not yet been converted into the actual Business Class seats yet as they are older aircrafts.
The seats are in Grey colour leather. You can stretch your legs totally and not reach the seat in front of you. The inflight service and cuisine is not bad either.
But the most important is the comfort due to the seats.
The stopover in Rome is not that good however. Our flight arrived at 6.00 am in the morning in Rome and the Business Class Lounge did'nt open until 7.00am, so we had to ...
Advantages: Cheap fares, very prominent throughout Africa Disadvantages: Occasional delays, long queues at check-in
Having been transferred to Ghana in the year 2000 and having lived their for a period of over one year I thought I might write an opinion on Ghana Airways, with whom I traveled with many times.
Ghana Airways is the national airline of Ghana and their slogan is “Your Star in the Sky”
They operate a fleet of DC10 aircraft, which they use for their long haul flights, and a fleet of DC9 aircraft, which they use on the short haul flights. Although these aircraft are quite old, they are maintained and serviced very well.
The destinations covered by Ghana Airways, from and to the capital city Accra, are:
Long Haul Flights
---------------------
New York, Baltimore, London, Dusseldorf, Johannesburg, Harare,
Short Haul Flights
----------------------
Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Conakry (Guinea), Dakar (Senegal), Lagos ...

Advantages: Comfortable, Conveniently located, All necessary facilities Disadvantages: Some may find it a bit expensive
Many of you who might have read some of my previous opinions will be aware that I travel to West Africa quite frequently and one of the destinations that I visit most is Accra in Ghana.
When travelling to Africa in general one of the most important decisions you must make is the hotel that you intend to stay in.
You need a place that provides you with comfortable rooms, clean food and water, entertainment and security.
My hotel of choice is the Golden Tulip Accra Hotel.
This hotel is part of the Golden Tulip chain of hotels. Golden Tulip hotels enjoy a high reputation throughout the world. More on the Golden Tulip chain later in this opinion.
The Golden Tulip Accra Hotel is located just 2 km from Accra’s Kotoka International Airport and is commonly referred to as the “airport hotel”.
Most major ...
