Advantages: Good location. Clean. Disadvantages: Need to take a course in customer service
I was very excited to go to this Pousada as we had planned this for a long time as there is so much in the surrounding area to see.
On arrival we found parking to be a problem and almost none existent. We had to park down the road and carry our own luggage to reception.
At reception, although friendly, we had to wait a while to be attended to.
The rooms were clean and although small, were adequate. The bathrooms have been modernized, however grouting and tiling not done very well. Beds comfortable.
Breakfast was included and a large variety of breads, cheeses etc available. However, the service was appalling. It was self service however one had to request certain items such as coffee etc from the waiters. Again, trying to attract the attention of the waiters took time. When we were served coffee it was like dishwater ...
Advantages: A reasonable price for Finland, great breakfast, very clean and comfortable Disadvantages: Rooms are quite small, lack of parking spaces may be a problem for some
This bed and breakfast is situated close to the bus station and just five minutes walk from the very centre of town. We arrived in Turku by train and walked the route in ten minutes so the location is good yet still quiet.
Look hard, it's not easy to spot. The doorway looks like all the doorways on the block which is full of shops and offices. There is an entry buzzer to let you in; once you check in you'll have a key for this door. The B and B is up a couple of flights and there's no lift. It's not too bad but people with mobility problems should be aware of this.
We hadn't booked in advance but there was a room available. We were checked in without fuss and while the owner wasn't effusive she was friendly enough. The bedrooms are off the main corridor as are the shared shower rooms. This does mean a certain amount of noise as ...
Advantages: very clean, friendly proprietor, felt homy, great views Disadvantages: the plug socket looked worrying
We recently had a night away in Melksham, near Chippenham, to attend the wedding of family friends and - as is usual with these friends of ours - they booked us into a local bed and breakfast and then (as usual) paid for our stay! After a mind-numbingly terrible journey down the M6 and then the M5 that took the best part of four hours, I must admit, I was hoping this bed and breakfast would at least be comfortable.
I'm going to start at the end of my stay in order to give some background to Sandridge Tower which the proprietor Mrs. Woodhouse kindly filled us in with after breakfast before we left. It's actually the last place in the world I would expect to have a webpage, but - using that - I learnt that it was built as a "folly" (ie. a building that is basically decorative but doesn't have any special purpose, if I understand the term ...
