I have a home cinema system too but since getting this i have to confess that the majority of movies have been watched on the Acer. This is because of the great advantage of being able to watch anywhere, especially when on the train or in bed and the headphones are entirely satisfactory.

(+) Looks good. Battery life around 4 hours. Keeps your legs warm on cold days! (-) Audio crackle. Gets too hot. Screen viewing angle restrictive. Slow to start.
Advantages: quick, sleek and beautifully constructed screen Disadvantages: not the smallest or lightest around due to 17" screen
When I first got this laptop I read all the documentation and noted a few things to my suprise, firstly for an expensive laptop the battery life is not spectacular, a measley 1.5 hours of normal use, also it takes ages to recharge - about 3.5 hours. The other thing i noticed was that despite being sold as a devastating businessman's laptop, designed for complex presentations etc. the bundled software leaves much to be desired.
That being said, once ... ...forgotten...the super-quick 3.066GHz processor purred into life with a sense of urgency and the desire to please. Windows XP Home edition (the bundled OS) sorted itself out quickly and with the minimum of fuss and I was soon on my way to Laptop heaven. Since my first encounter I have not lost my enthusiasm for it, far from it. The GeForce FX Go5600 graphics card is efficient and reliable (originally a slight concern given the modest 64MB of VRAM) ...

Advantages: fast, good for presentation Disadvantages: heavy, not a real laptop, poor repair service
I bought a Acer Aspire 1703sc laptop computer in October 2003 and the LCD screen developed a problem in January 2004. I called Acer UK to arrange a pick up for repair.
DHL picked up the computer in 19th of February 2004 and I received the computer back in 7th of March 2004. When I opened the box I was very surprised by the way they packed the computer. They put the computer in the middle of a very big box with two layer of polyurethane foam, one ... ...the same problem.
I called Acer UK immediately and complain about the way they pack the computer and LCD screen still broken. Acer UK made another arrangement with DHL to pick up the computer in 8th of March 2004 for another repair. I back from my business trip to US in 23rd of March 2004. The computer already arrived. When I opened the box I cannot believed my eyes. They still pack the computer in the same way as they packed in the first time. ...

Advantages: , big screen, almost full size keyboard, lots of storage Disadvantages: Heavy and large - not very portable
This was one of the first laptops available with a 17 inch screen. I bought this in 2003 for university as I thought I could also watch DVDs on it and store music. It was a bit on the heavy side but I only had one problem at the airport about it's weight of 11kg (after about 6 flights). I also played a lot of games so the 512 ram and 80GB hard drive were put to good use. However, I think that not many were produced as I am having problems finding ...

I purchased the Acer Aspire 5520G laptop from Tesco Direct for the cost of £499, about 3 months ago. I purchased the laptop as my third laptop after two very unsuccessful Gateway Laptops earlier in 2007. These two laptops were both around £100... more
Despite having a home pc it is sometimes necessary to have access to one when not at home I therefore decided the time had come to invest in a laptop. Like desktops there are numerous makes models and specifications available. As with a lot of things it... more
In choosing a laptop I went through a number of thought processes. Having previously had a desktop I was frustrated by the fact that I always had to go to it, I had to put it on a desk and I had to vacuum around it !
Before purchasing the laptop I had more
Well now as I have said before I am not a very 'techie' kind of girl but I thought well I've got a new laptop and I have got quite a bit to say about it so what the hell. For any real technical minded people out there I apologise profusely now!!

Now I wouldn't call this a laptop, Id call this a machine. The sheer size of this beast makes it less portable for a laptop, but makes it great as a replacement desktop which will no doubt runs as fast and take up a lot less room.
