...St Lawrence Gap is a very lively part of Barbados, often referred to merely as "The Gap", with places like The Ship Inn (Thursday night), the Reggae Lounge (Sunday nights) and plenty of others to amuse you, offering either free admission or a cover charge but reduced priced drinks. St Lawrence Gap is not far from Rockley Beach for water sports, and of course, being on the coast, you can swim in the sea, which is warm all year round (usually a lot cooler in the sea than on land!). There are some great Sports Bars too in Worthing (Bubba's for example) and Dover (ten minutes walk away), and apart from the plethora of beggars and hawkers, St Lawrence Gap is ideal. A taxi to St Lawrence Gap from Bridgetown is usually around $BD40 and a similar price to the Grantley Adams International Airport. I recommend trying the Roti - like Fajitas... Read review

...This is by no means a definitive guide to Ottawa, but some jottings based on a couple of visits. I always feel with places that you are likely to go to again, that there’s no point in rushing to see it all, and to date, I haven’t! *************************************************************** “Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now 500 miles east of our capital, Ottawa” said our Air Canada captain, as if having to remind himself that a city this size is the capital of one of the world’s largest countries. Touching down in Ottawa does indeed give the impression of having landed somewhere more akin to Norwich if the airport is anything to go by. Advantages: Canadian history and culture

...market. Getting there – I flew into Ottawa airport which is small enough to not get lost in. The volunteer on the information desk was great at helping me get a bus to my accommodation in town which wasn’t far away. Air transport within Canada is very cheap and it’s easy to fly between major cities. Where to stay – Ottawa Youth Hostel based in the old jail where prisoners were incarcerated and executed. The rooms are the original cells, seemingly untouched, complete with narrow barred doorways. It gives you an idea what it must have been like being locked up there and is very exciting and creepy to stay in. The 7th floor where condemned prisoners were held and executed (by hanging) is not habited but is open to the public. A ‘shock’ tour is operated by a local company so be prepared for screaming!
