Advantages: Romantic Destination for City break
Disadvantages: Can be Cold in Winter, as surrounded by water, Can be Smelly in summer.

...to a luxurious suite, 3 day passes on the water buses, (essential in Venice), free entry & drink at Venices' casino & tickets to a classical concert in a beautiful church. I did the maths & worked out that we were only paying an extra 40 Euros between us for all of the above, so I jumped at the chance. I had read a review of the hotel which had commented that it was slightly hard to find, although it is a stones throw from the Rialto bridge. In fact I forgot to take the directions with me & still found it ok. It added to the excitement of the whole trip. The suite was fantastic, it backed onto a relatively quite canal just of the main Grand Canal. The breakfast was adequate & service excellent. I therefore would recommend this hotel very highly. ...as the Forum Beach) we were disgusted at what JMC had done to us. It was like staying at the YMCA. Although only five minutes walk to the Forum Beach it took almost two days to sort out additional bands so that we could use the facilities. Then discovered there were none. No watersports at all and no watersports licence until 1st August 2000. Even then the windsurfing was only available to paying guests. Along with other guests who had the same problem we had several meetings with the sour faced rep Adele and eventually got to speak to Mark Maynard the JMC Supervisor for Rhodes. He informed us that he had personally sent weekly reports back to the UK stating that the Forum Beach was not completed and the hotel was not ready to receive the volume of guests expected.
