Being Liverpool supporters, we try to get there as often as possible, and coming from Cardiff, find it more convenient to stay overnight. We have stayed in the Adelphi 4 times - not all out of choice, and definately wouldn't be our 1st choice, by any means. The 1st time we stayed there, about 8 years ago, we loved it. We had a very large room (there was only a twin available), with settees, a table, writing desk, TV and obviously beds. The price was reasonable. We therefore recommended it to friends on our next stay. This time with a double bedded room, it was tiny, but still cleanish. However, the housemaid tried to get into our room at 6 o'clock in the morning, and when we complained , no-one seemed interested, although we did get a half apology. Our next encounter found us in a rather shabby room, with the added experience of the taxi's outside letting off fireworks at 2 o'clock in the morning - just for the fun of it, we were told at reception. In addition, some drunk tried to get in our room 3 times (having forgot his own room number) In fairness the Adelphi staff eventually escorted him to his room. We again stayed there last weekend, with 2 children. The room was not anywhere near what we expected for £97 (which doesn't include breakfast) We were told that there would be a sofa bed for one of the children, which definately did not look like any sofa bed I've seen. The children were just happy to have gone to the footbal match, luckily, and didn't care where they slept. Breakfast cost £14.70 for 2 bowls of cereal, plus 1 English breakfast which didn't include fried bread! English breakfast? Why did we stay there again? We went to see the football, and needed somewhere to stay. Other places less expensive (and more expensive, like the Moat House) were full. We only wanted beds for the night, and the 2 lads thoroughly enjoyed themselves. But I wouldn't recommend this hotel out of choice - only a necessity. To make our day better, the car park cost £10 per day!

I too have heard some very bad things about the Adelphi, and I wasn't at all impressed by what I saw of them in that documentary series on TV a few years back. Duncan x

I have stayed there and was far from impressed. Its daylight robbery for the standards.
