Aaah - The Adelphi! What a place!! From the outside it looks pretty impressive. You walk in and are greeted by a huge, opulent reception area. Fantastic architecture greets you every where you care to look. Massive chandeliers hang from the vaulted ceilings and create an overall ambience that is missing from so many of todays more modern hotels.

However, it all falls apart pretty quickly after that. Check in can be nightmare experience. The general decor and condition of some of the rooms is appalling. Peeling paint work? Dead flies on the window sill? You bet - they've got it all!! I'm sure that those of you who saw the TV series documenting The Adelphi will need no reminding of the levels service that are sometimes available if you're unlucky.

It's a real shame because the hotel has so much potential. It is a beautiful building that is part of Liverpool's vast cultural heritage. Unless you're very much into impressive architecture and are used to staying at Faulty Towers, do not book a stay here!
