I used to smoke a great deal of tobacco, most weeks smoking five ounces of tobacco. One day an old friend of mine asked if I fancied doing a tobacco run with him. With the thought of getting cheap tobacco, I jumped at the opportunity and the following week we were all booked on a coach and ready to go.

***Where is Adinkerke***

Adinkerke is the first town that you come to when crossing the border from France into Belgium, It is about ten miles from the town of Dunkerque and 37 miles from Calais

***How to get to Adinkerke***

The way I went to adinkerke was to go down to Dover in Kent, then catch either a ferry or go through the Eurotunnel. Once you get into Calais you simply follow the signposts and head for the A16, I have been told that since I last went that the A16 now joins up with the ferry port and you drive straight out onto it. Follow the road until you reach the Belgium border. The road will then turn into the A18, follow it for a further 5 miles and turn of into Adinkerke. As simple as that.

***What is Adinkerke Like***

When you first arrive in the sleepy town of Adinkerke you will notice the lovely canals that run down the main road. But as soon as you turn of into the town you will be into tobacco heaven, Every single shop is covered in tobacco signs. Its like a smokers paradise.

***Duty-Free***

The duty-free is much cheaper in Belgium than it is in France. So if you are specifically going over to save a few quid then the journey is well worth it. the duty-free shops also sell cheap wine, beer and spirit. But be warned that if you exceed your limit then you will lose all your goods as well as your car.

***Conclusion***

Adinkerke is a nice sleepy town just inside of the Belgium border. That is agreat place to go if you want to stock up on the duty-free and save a few quid. however the journey could be along one and although it can be done in a day I would recommend that you make at least a week end out of. So that you can enjoy the european atmosphere.

Don't smoke - but it sounds like a nice sort of weekend trip. Another good review.
