Paradise on Kos!

Advantages: Great Setting, Close to Airport, First Class Food, Very Clean, Wonderful!
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

thirty minutes and you could have seen us leaving, decidedly poorer but with the joy of a holiday to look forward to, departing in just 5 days! Honestly, what one glass of wine in Pizza Hut does to me I?ll never quite know! The following Tuesday saw us at Manchester Airport bright and early, 6am being just a little too bright and early for some of us, and eagerly awaiting our flight to the Greek island of Kos. Kos lies in the south east of the Aegean Sea and is the third largest of the Greek islands (after both Rhodes and Corfu) and boasts a population of 30,000 that is regularly almost doubled each summer with holiday makers. Our hotel was located about a mile outside of the town of Kardamena which lies on the south side of the island and approx. 15 minutes from the only airport on the island. The resort consists of many bars with about 3 ...

KOS - Isle of Views

Advantages: great beaches, historic places, good nightlife
Disadvantages: not much

I've been to five or six Greek islands, but Kos is still my favourite. Kos is one of the most beautiful and sunniest islands in the Aegean Sea. It is the third biggest of the Dodecanese (meaning twelve in greek) Islands. It has historic monuments, beautiful weather virtually all year round and it's white sand beaches are lapped by crystal clear water. Am I painting an enticing picture so far? Kos Town is the Island's capital and there you can get away from beachlife for a while and steep yourself in some Greek history by visiting the historic monuments. The town has modern broad streets bordered with trees, big squares, and houses with gardens. You will hit by the fact that there are so much greenery and trees around, fir, pine tree, cypress, eucalyptus, oak, jarmine, lilac, acacia and hibiscus. Take a stroll on the rock paved ...

THE JEWEL OF THE AEGEAN

Advantages: it's paradise!
Disadvantages: perhaps a little too quiet for some

I'm back for a second attempt at holiday writing ~ this one has been harder because this holiday seems like so long ago! We visited Kos in May 2001. The holiday was for a week only ~ but we were excited because it was my first time abroad, and one of the first for my parents. Because we were only there for a week, we probably didn't get around as much as we would have liked (hence my 'Places to Visit' section being quite short), but we did see enough to get a general impression on the island as a whole. We stayed in the quiet village of Mastihari, so a lot of my review will revolve around it. ~*~ GENERAL INFORMATION (KOS) Kos is the third-largest of the Dodecanese islands (Rhodes is the largest), with a population of over 27,000. It's actually quite far away from my holiday destination this year (Zakynthos) ~ Kos is ...
