Advantages: History, beaches, amenities, weather, friendly people, now closer to airport Disadvantages: Too busy during summer months, mad drivers
...to Lagos from Faro airport is no longer the ordeal it used to be. The newly built motorway means that the airport can be reached in just over an hour drive, and the traffic crossing the Algarve is now more evenly distributed between the two available main routes.
The best times to visit are before July and after the 15th September, unless you don't mind crowded beaches. The period comprising the above months is when the Portuguese take their holidays, so "half" of Portugal tends to move down to the Algarve.
Another positive aspect of Lagos is that you don’t feel as if you’re in the middle of a town built to cater for mass tourism. The hotels are well integrated in the town’s landscape and, despite the construction of some less attractive apartment blocks alongside the Marina; Lagos still has lots of character.

Advantages: Good chinese restuarants, people... Disadvantages: travel, corruption, dangerous, accomodation, smell...
...I travel to Lagos 3 times a year for work and hate it. When arriving at murtula muhammed airport you instantly realise that you have just entered a world totally different to UK.
The place smells pretty bad and there is rubbish everywhere, i mean literally everywhere. You cannot avoid it. You think of the pressure we are put under in the UK to comply with enviromentally friendly regulations etc after visiting Lagos you soon begin to think whats the point, the amount of pollution created by Lagos warps it to a relatively insignificant issue. Theres enough rubbish on the streets and roads of Lagos to fill every litter bin in the UK one thousand times i am sure.
There are huge holes in the middle of all the roads. You have to be driven everywhere as if you don't know where all the holes are you could have a bad accident. The roads...

Advantages: It's a very charming holiday destination Disadvantages: On the touristy side... (if this bothers you)
...I went to Lagos shortly before end of the tourist season (middle September).
GETTING THERE:
I got there by taking the coach (4.20 euros) from FARO. I definately would recommend you to take the train instead (except at siesta time), it only costs about 1 euro more. The reason I do not recommend the coach is because delays can occur quite easily (my 2 hour journey turned into a 4.5 hour nightmare with no toilet break).
STAYING IN LAGOS:
Once I arrived there, I headed to the pre-booked youth hostel. This hostel is very popular, so pre-booking is essential, no matter when you travel. It's located in the town centre, is quite modern, staff is very friendly, nice mix of travellers and a very relaxed atmosphere. Price: 10 euros per night.
There are lots of portugese people trying to earn extra euros by subletting rooms for tourists. Lists...

If you are a fan of the 'live experience' inside your own home, then you must own this 'double' album. I originally got this when i was a young child on double cassette. On CD, bizarrely, the first disc encompasses thirteen tracks, some incredibly long,... more
A shorter review this time, because I don't have an awful lot to say about this slab of metal history. Having been dropped from Gull Records after the excellent 'Sad Wings of Destiny,' which remains a Judas Priest classic to this day, the band was... more
