...and i stayed at the Agapinor for 11 nights in June 2006.
We booked through Go-Travel having only a small hoilday fund! We knew we wanted to go to Paphos but didn't mind were we stayed. For our budget we only had a choice of this hotel and a self catering hotel. We chose the Agapinor as the description said it was close to the shops and it was half board. the hotel and flights cost £450 each.
What i didn't realise was ... ...would not stay at the Agapinor again - mainly due to the location, it was just to far from everything. there is no pool table or entertainment so evenings could be quite boring, neither was there any activities for children so i would not recomend this hotel for families.
Overall we had a great holiday, but we did spend a lot of money on taxi's and food. (I would recommend anyone planing staying here to book B&B or room only) ... more
My boyfriend and i stayed at the Agapinor for 11 nights in June 2006.
What i didn't realise was that there are two parts to Paphos, the old town (which is where the Agopinor is situated) and the tourist part by the harbour, the distance between the two is about 3km. This became a problem as all the bars, clubs and restaurants are near the harbour. In the daytime there is a bus service which runs about every 10 mins and costs about 40p, this stops early evening so the only way to get to the harbour is by taxi which costs about £6-7 each way, or walking which takes about 40 mins. Also there is no bus service on a sunday , and walking down to the harbour in blistering heat was not a good experince!
Now on to the hotel, we had a double room overlooking the front of the hotel which is situated on a busy road, you can get pool view rooms on the otherside of the hotel but there wasn't any available when we booked (there is an extra charge for these) We couldn't open the nets on the window due to the hotel being over looked by residential flats and shops, basically if we opened the nets everyone could see into our room and if we left the window open the traffic noises would become really annoying. Also there was signs up in the room saying 'if any guests were caught with an iron it would be confiscated!' (we hid ours in the suitcase) the rooms were air conditioned and had a TV showing a few english channels.
The room was very clean, the bathroom was ok, the shower head was broken, it kept slipping down the pole so we had to tie it up with a shoe lace! i think the sheets were changed every 3-4 days and the maid came in daily to empty the bin and re-stock the loo roll.
The pool area was well mantained, sunbeds are provided but these could become difficult to get if you didn't go straight out after breakfast. The swimming pool is a lot smaller in real life to what it looks in the brochure but it was clean and well cared for.
Now the food! Breakfast was served until 10.00 there was a lot of choice but the quality of the food was not great, there was the usual cereals, bread, usually boilded or scrambled eggs, sausages which were like mini hot dog sausages, beans, bacon etc etc the fruit juice tasted like it had been watered down - but it all served a purpose and it didn't make us ill! evening meals are served in a seated, waited restaurant. the starters are self service, so are the puddings. the main was usually a choice of 3 dishes, mostly meats. We ate here the first night and were so disapointed with the food that we didn't go back. The soups in the starter were like vegatable stock, although everything was cooked ok, it was bland, unappealing and lacking in choice. (we would have been better booking the self catering apartment which was closer to the harbour to!)
The staff at the hotel were helpful, i couldn't fault them.

Advantages: Clean hotel and friendly staff. Disadvantages: Situated too far from the main area of Paphos with no late buses.
I booked it and spent the next few weeks dreading it after reading reviews on other websites. When we entered reception at 2am I was filled with trepidation..........but got a lovely surprise. Reception is bright and friendly and we were checked in by the security man in less than 10mins. We then went to our room and found it to be very clean and comfortable. The beds are probably hard for some people but they were fine for us. The bathroom was spotless ... ...taken my own after reading the reviews.
After a good night's sleep we woke up and opened the balconey door and heard the level of traffic. Yes, the road is busy during business hours but how many people spend the day in their hotel room? With the door closed the room was very quiet. The air conditioning was very effective and meant we did not roast . If the breakfast was repetitive that's up to the individual. There was a choice of cereals, friuts, ...
