Having been to Corfu now 7 times, 3 of which have been in San Stefanos, this is without question one of my most favourite places on earth! The long sweeping bay curls round and is surrounded by hills giving the resort a kind of 'secluded - tucked away' feel. Still relatively untouched by commercialsim (unlike it's neighbour Sidari) San Stefanos has a warm friendly - family atmosphere. Perfect for couples old and young or those who just want to get away and relax for a week or two. The weather in the resort seems to have it's own micro climate as the rest of the island can be covered in cloud and rain however the north west corner can miss a lot of this...though don't be fooled...when it does decide to rain it really goes for it! There are a number of good bars and restaurants in the resort, of which i am going to have to recommend 'The Little Prince Appartments' where i stayed last. Spacious, high standards and extremely clean the owners Dimitri and Peppina run probably one of the most popular appartments and restaurant in the resort! They also go out of their way to make everyone who visits their personal friends...the number of people who go back and stay with them every year is outstanding!
San Stefanos is definitely a quiet resort, but with a few bars and a new nightclub that had just opened by the beach things could be getting livlier. The locals are doing their utmost to keep San Stefanos as quiet and traditional as they can. A good alternative to a day on the beach is a walk across the hills along to the neighbouring Arillas which gives spectacular views of the both bays!
