If you're tired of fish, this is the place to go, as meat dishes from the mainland are menu mainstays. Despite the tourist-trap name and proximity to the Guggenheim Museum, it's a favorite with Venetians looking to splurge. Feast on filetto di maiale con castraure (pork fillet with baby artichokes), duck breast with apple and sweet onion, or more traditional dishes from the Veneto hills such as horse meat and game, gnocchi, and polenta. The wine list is above average in quality and variety.
Advantages: One of a kind Disadvantages: Kind of crowded
...Venice Boardwalk is a one of a kind place. No where in the world will you find a stretch this wierd and intersting. Right next to the beach, venice is a great way to spend a few hours or a whole day in Los Angeles. It passes through Muscle Beach as well, which is an outdoor gym. The boardwalk is lined with small shops and tatoo parlours on one side and vendors on the other. Also, there are human statues, comedians, and picture opputunities. The parking is a little bit expensive if you take your own car, but the shops and vendors are fairly cheap. If you have never been to Venice Boardwalk, you're really missing out on a special spot!...

Advantages: the queen of cities Disadvantages: sometimes very expensive
...Venice is the queen of all European cities.
I´ve been dreaming of a visit to this city for at least 15 years or so. Then suddenly I got the chance to go there for a weekend trip in September 2000. My wife organised the trip as a birthday present and we got there by plane.
We arrived at “Aeroporto Marco Polo” and had to reach the city by motorboat. The transfer lasted nearly one hour but the weather was very fine and so we enjoyed the wonderful views out over the lagoon.
The hotel “Cavaletto & Doge Orseolo” is situated right by the side of “Piazza San Marco”. It´s a quite comfortable hotel that has its own landing-stage for gondolas. In the morning you can look through the windows of the breakfast-room on the gondolieri who prepare their gondolas and themselves for a new day.
In the evening we had...

Supposed to be in and trendy, for those who feel they are unique and alternative, this place requires also a good income or a decent wallet to pay for the bill, if you dine there. However, their astrological pizzas seem to be in favour with their customers. Check their programme for art exhibitions, concerts, talks about poetry and the usual alternative stuff you can expect from this kind of place.
I regularly check comments on my articles, please feel free to add yours, particularly if you visit any of these places and/or know of similar ones...

Being a tech junkie is hard, as the new technologies keep coming out, it takes more and more money to stay on top of the game. With DVD player prices down to an all time low, it’s hard to see the rationale behind paying £600 for a DVD player. For that... more

We found this to be a charming small hotel. It straddles two buildings which is possibly its only disadvantage, in that we had to go up and under, round and down and up and under again through very... more
