Advantages: Cheap 'n' cheerful and only 50 metres from a metro station Disadvantages: Small breakfast
...This hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Termini train station and only 50 metres from the nearest metro stop (Castro-pretorio).
The rooms are clean, if a bit old-fashioned, but they are air-conditioned (which wasn't needed in Feb when temp was 1-2c) but will be a godsend (if it works) in the summer!!
The shower is powerful and hot.
As I said the only small drawback is that they're a bit stingy with breakfast but hey-ho.
They are some reasonable pizzerias and cafes nearby and a mini-market across the road.
Beware that the hotel seems to have 2 names - The St Martin and the Tre Stelle which can confuse the taxi drivers!
The receptionist was very helpful and speaks good English.
All in all, for the price a very fine little hotel....

Advantages: Location close to the Train/Buses. Disadvantages: Distance from the main sites - but hey the walk is great!
...I went to Rome in May and stayed at the Hotel Gioberti, located extremely close to the train station and bus terminus. It was excellent, clean and convenient for transport and sights. It operates on a B&B basis, and is situated in the Via Gioberti. Although the bed was harder than I would have at home, it was comfortable and most important the room and ensuite was clean.
Breakfast is a self-service affair on the first floor, offering a selection of cold meats and cheeses, bread, cereals, fresh fruit and the usual tea and coffee.
The area around the hotel is one of the cheaper to eat in, with restaurants locally offering a good selection of traditional italian foods. Most of the restaurants we frequented were filled with Italians, as good a recommendation as you'll ever get!...

Advantages: Location, Price, Breakfast, TV, Walking Distance to Train Station Disadvantages: Comfort of Beds, Cold Floors, Security
...I went to Rome for a 3 night city break, and came across this hotel on the Internet and booked it because it was cheap and it was available last minute.
The hotel was 10 minutes walk from the main train station were I was dropped off from Rome-Ciampino airport. The receptionist spoke excellent English. The Rome was very pleasant and was far better than what I was expecting for a 2* hotel. It had a clean and functioning bathroom, double bed, good lighting and satelltie TV. As I was out nearly all day, everyday, the room did not bother that much. I was using it for sleeping and who cares what the room looks like when your knackered and all you need is a bed. The morning breakfast was excellent with fresh daily produce in there contintental breakfast that was included in the price.
The only problem I had with the hotel...

We bought this before a recent weekend away in Rome (ok, I confess, we went to watch the rugby!) As we thought it would be nice to know a little about what we were looking at and where we were.
I spent the delay at the airport and the flight checking... more
