I found First Choice Airways to be one of the best airlines I have ever had the chance to fly with. In August 2004, me and my family had a wonderful flight with First Choice Airways (formally Air2000). We flew to Majorca-Palma Airport from East Midlands Airport.
We flew on an Airbus A321 (G-OOAH), which had Premium seats available, and so we booked them as a special treat for a change, and Premium seating offers seating in a designated part of the cabin, free drink from the bar, free headphones, more legroom, more comfortable wider seats, priority check-in, priority luggage tags and I cannot forget the free take-off drink!
Check in at East Midlands Airport was painless, as we had a dedicated check-in desk for Premium passengers. The departure lounge at East Midlands does get busy, but I think we got on the plane just before rush-hour!
On board the crew seemed nice and the cabin looked modern with turquoise leather seats. Our seats were 2A, 2B and 2C, and on takeoff we were given Bucks Fizz as a treat. The safety video was shown, and we took-off to some nice music.
The plane was comfortable and clean despite some mess on the floor, and the service was very good. The meal was a Breakfast, which was quite nice. The Entertainment was Shrek 2, but I tried to listen to the music channels which kept repeating the same music over and over again, and when something you would like to listen to was played, the crew would come on the channel, telling you about every page of the Duty Free book, spending ages banging on about products which no-one was interested in going on holiday. Another annoying thing about the flight was a video telling you about how to behave while on holiday, which was embarrassing. The landing was nice and soft and it was a nice flight overall.
On the way back, the flight was even better, the main reason being the food which was Sausages and Vegetable mash in a red onion sauce, which I considered to be better than my Mum’s cooking. We landed back at East Midlands Airport after a great holiday and some excellent flights.
ADVICE ABOUT PREMIUM SERVICE:
Although I thought this extra was nice, it is not really worth it on such a short flight. I took the exact flight last year in Standard class and the flight was just as enjoyable, so I wouldn’t bother with it on flights which are around 2 hours long, as the flights are just as nice in economy. (I thought I would try and save you a few bucks!!)
