I got married in Jamaica in July 2003. We booked our holiday/wedding/honeymoon through Thomsons. The airline they use is air 2000.
I live in Central Scotland and we had to make our way to Manchester airport. Once there, all excited about going to Jamaica and getting married, we were told they had not allocated our seats as we had requested and paid extra for. This resulted in me not being able to sit next to my future husband for the whole 9.5 hour flight. Ok got passed that, just, he managed to get seated on the row behind me. We had upgraded to first class (a little luxury as we were going out to get married and would probably never be able to afford it again anyway). That was fine and the service was average.
On the way back, we had aasked our holidya rep to arrange for us ewly weds to sit together. We were over the moon when she got back to us and said that Air 2000 had arranged it for us. We got on to the plane and found out tickets were for economy class, not what we had paid for! Ok, we could cope with that, no big deal, but we had paid for a little luxury! At least we were together that was all that mattered right? Yeah right! The seats were tiny, there was virtually no leg space (and i am only 5'4 and weigh 9stone!).
The plane was not full so they moved us to an empty middle isle with a row or four seats. Kushty. Not long after our delyed take off they sat more people next to us so we were back to square one.
When the meals arrived they were virtually thrown at us! I had my wee tray down, and I was leaning over to look into my new hubby's eyes (as you do when you are just married), suddenly this plastic thing is thrown down infront of me, not even accompanied by a smile! There was very little choice and it was disgusting, all we did eat was the cube of cheese and some putrid orange juice.
After about 7 hours of sheer hell and being so uncomfortable we could not even doze we had our breakfast roll thrown at us. The filling tasted ok but the bread was tough, so we ate the filling, (bacon) and left the bread. We were treated like children and were asked why we did not eat the bread. I told them it was a little tough and i was told it was good enough for everybody else "back here". GGRRRRR!
The reuslt of the flight was two aching starving people. We had a Limo to pick us up which was a surprise from my parents. If that was not there I don't think we would have had the enery to get home. We both slept in the limo until we got home, about 4 hours later, so we missed the whole experience!
needless to say, if we can ever afford to go anywhere again, it will not be with air 2000. i would rather strap plywood to my arms and try to fly myself!!
I hope you were refunded for not being in first class, despite paying for it.

You should certainly get some money back if you paid for first class but were given economy! There is a huge difference!! Hope married life is good! Ann

You lucky thing going to Jamaica! Shame about the flight though - good op but a little more info on the prices, the staff, customer service, website, etc. would help to give a better idea. Sarah x
