Right up on the citadel hill, across a park, lies what I consider the main attraction of Ankara. The most important museum in the land, the 'Museum of Anatolian Civilizations' can be found here. It houses an outstanding archaeological collection of finds from Anatolia, from the Stone Age through to Classical Period. As an archaeologist active in that area I would return to Ankara time and time again just to see this museum, which incidentally won the award of "European Museum of the Year in 1998 or 99", I think.
Another sight not to miss whilst in Ankara is the Anit Kabir, Atatürks Mausoleum. Build on a hill overlooking the city, set amongst immaculate parks and guarded by honour guards from all military forces, it houses the body...

...Turkey is both muslim and secular European country. However, they are also keen on their tradition which is a mixture of cultures. Anatolia has become a host to very different cultures for ages. You can still smell that mysterious history seeing its ancient prooves. Bodrum,Marmaris,Antalya,Kapadokya are popular places except the beatiful city Istanbul. In my opinion, Hittites, Persians, Ancient Greeks, Romans, Seljuks, Ottomans and all of them an historical fantasy, Fantastic! If you are keen on history,you can find more than you want especially In the middle and Mediterranian region of Turkey....
