The range of destinations within Asia is very broad with hundreds of connections, including many to different islands of Indonesia and into Burma (Myanmar). Kuala Lumpur is the hub with Bangkok a secondary so these have the broadest connections.

It is also unnecessary to pay extra for checking in at the airport unlike with a certain European no frills airline.
If you want a meal then you do have to pay for it but most of the short flights are a couple of hours maximum so it is easy enough not to eat on the place. If meals are booked in advance online when you book the ticket then thre is a discount on the price. the cost of food is quite high but no higher than on any other plane I have been in. With all my flights seats were also unallocated but could be reserved for a small fee in advance if for some reason a certain seat was needed-I have read that within the past 6 months they have moved towards allocated seating on all flights.
The staff on all flights I have taken with Air Asia have been friendly and accommodating. They have never been rude or seemed hassled and are also very professional in their dealings with customers without being standoffish. Whilst they do have duty free to sell on the plane they were never pushy and I have never felt disturbed by them. Usually if I am distracted then I wouldn't even notice them coming round. They also provide English language newspapers and a magazine.
The planes always appeared clean with no litter left over from previous flights and no dubious broken bits around the seats. In fact they have all looked quite new and free from grubbiness or any appearance of over-use.
I have also had good experience with the airline regards timekeeping. All my flights have taken off and landed within minutes of their scheduled times so I have no complaints.
Air Asia has the usual features allowing web check in so you don't have to queue at the airport and the option of self checking in at a kiosk at the airport (I don't think this is installed on all routes yet though).
The long haul flights are relatively new and as I said I haven't travelled on any of them yet but I would certainly be looking into it next time I fly out. One way prices from London can be less than £100 and to Australia from Asia for around £40. They are also a stable company that would seem to stand a much better chance of sustaining no frills long haul flights than the other companies who have gone bankrupt inthe past year or so-in fact a few of the routes have been running successfully for a while already.
Just as a small bonus, Air Asia have been voted best low cost airline in the world!
Advantages: Low cost flying Disadvantages: Possible delays & last minute cancellations
Air Asia is the far eastern equivalent of Ryanair in Europe and South West Airlines in the US.
It is a budget point to point airline. It operates much like a bus in that it doesnt necessarily turn up on time and is sometimes rescheduled.
It was set up in 2001 in Malaysia after the owner saw the potential for low cost flights in the UK & the US. From operating on a small route schedule it now has over one hundred different routes covering Malaysia, ... ...In case you are wondering, Air Asia don't do this for the British market but for Asia as the Premiership takes huge tv audiences every weekend. There are many "fans" who support a English team like Man Utd, Liverpool etc and that's why you see so many Asian brands advertising where they don't actually sell a product.
Like many other low cost airlines it operates on an eticket basis. No paper ticket is issued, you print off the booking confirmation ...

Advantages: Cheap, lots of Asian destinations Disadvantages: Limited schedules for some flights, no frills (but who cares at these prices?!)
...when I found out about Air Asia. Those of you who have travelled with Ryanair, BMI Baby, etc, will be familiar with the budget -airline procedure - buy a cheap flight using the company website, check-in at the airport and board the plane as you would a bus, ie, sit where you can find a seat. Air Asia follows this formula as Asia's first low fare airline.
**About the company**
Air Asia is based in Malaysia and started operating in January 2002. ... ...routes currently available are limited, Air Asia does seem to be expanding very quickly with new destinations being added every few weeks. **Booking**
The easiest way to book tickets is online which is very straightforward. Once you have chosen your arrival and departure points and dates of travel, a list of flight options and prices are presented to you. The cheapest flights have conditions attached to them such as non-changeable or refundable ...

Advantages: Very low prices, very friendly staff Disadvantages: May take longer to travel to and from the smaller airports used
I have flown with Air Asia twice in the last 2 years, from Vietnam to Thailand and also from The Philippines to Malaysia. Both experiences were good and by booking in advance I managed to take advantage of some very cheap deals on their website. '''Booking online''' The airline's website is easy to navigate and find information on flights. The FAQ section is concise and useful and once you book a flight, you receive a confirmation email promptly ... ...bus to the airport. Luckily, Air Asia provides some bus services when this is the case and the total cost was still a lot lower than flying with other airlines. Queues for check-in can be long because there usually aren't many desks open at the smaller airports and being a budget airline understandably means keeping staff costs low too. I was prepared to put up with this though, given how little I had paid for my flights and the staff at the airports ...

Advantages: Cheap airline with great looking staff!! Disadvantages: Only flies from 1 uk airport
...impressed with the professionalism of Air Asia staff. The airline is amazingly cheap, i managed to get 3 return tickets from Kuala Lumper to Sarawak (2 hour flight) for a little £100.00. This included a couple of add-on's, such as food and express boarding. Side issue, the cabin crew (female) look amazing. If you are into the eastern look, you need to fly just to be on the same flight as these stunner!! Anyway back the the review. The airline has ... ...pay extra for meals and in flight entertainment, althought this is only a small amount. Note. if you purchase inflight entertainment, it comes out on a little dvd player, all to yourself. This also includes games to play. The seats/legroom are rumored to be cramped, although from my experience this in fact very generous, more than enough. The meals are pretty good too!! One word of advise, if you are looking to fly with Air-Asia, book well in advance ...

Advantages: Saves time as buses take forever in Asia! Disadvantages: Food is really expensive and not that great
Air Asia are an internet based airline serving destinations all over South East Asia. They often have offers on their flights and their tickets are generally very fairly priced. I used them to fly from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Bangkok. I booked my ticket on their website. It is very easy to navigate and when booking you are given the option to add a meal on for the trip, or have heavier luggage, which is what I did as after 6 weeks travelling ... ...it, but as I said, my flight was extremely short so it didn't matter. There was a magazine available to read though. Overall my experience of Air Asia was positive, and I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a quicker way to travel around SE Asia! ...
