I live in Canada, I travel a lot. So what airline do I use? Air Canada of course. Actually your more forced too. With the demise of Canadian Airlines, Canada 3000, Royal Airlines and with WestJet just starting to expand, Air Canada is almost your only choice when flying in Canada. But even so, Air Canada is truly a very good airline especially compared to others. Lets look into my flights.
One time I had to fly from Calgary to Vancouver on a business trip. I was (sadly) in Coach though. When checking in, I noticed it wasn't too crowded. There were only 2 people ahead of me. This maybe because Air Canada offers express check-in where you can check-in electronically at a computer. But since I prefer the old fashion way, I went to the desk. The lady was very friendly and always smiled. She recommended some hotels in Vancouver while in Vancouver. I waited for the plane. It was late 10 minutes by the time we took off. Instructions were shown in English, French and even Japanese. This maybe because of the large number of Japanese tourists that go to Banff or Jasper. Refreshments were provided 20 minutes into the flight. Some of the attendents were seen helping a handicapped person get to the washroom. The crew were very cheerful and took to your concerns. The plane landed smoothley. Although 20 minutes late. The crew waved good-bye while getting off.
Another time I flew Air Canada was the time I went to London to see my cousin. Since Air Canada flew directly from Calgary to London, I booked a flight from them. At the desk, the lady was cheerful and asked where you were from, where your going etc. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed 20 minutes. On flight, dinner was served. Now Air Canada does a excellent job in food. There was a roll, a choice between Salisbury Steak or Veal Cutlets, a Garden salad, and chocolate mousse for dessert. I was very full. After the meal, the movie Monsters INC. was shown. Although I would have prefered a more "adult" movie, they probably showed this since there is only time to show one movie and there were many children onboard. The flight ended with the crew waving goodbye and handing out Canada pins.

On my other reviews, you may recall me going to Japan on ANA and JAL. Air Canada offers flights to Tokyo and Osaka from Vancouver and Toronto. I myself was off to Osaka. The attendants knew English, French, Japanese, and Chinese. They were always friendly and wanted to help you in anyway they could. The flights to Japan on Air Canada resemble those very good airlines from Asia. The flight this time was on time, you could see attendants helping elderly and families with on-board luggage. Toys were handed out to younger children. Japanese and Western Meals were offered. I chose the Japanese meal. This included some sushi, salad, roll, Curry on rice and brownie for dessert. On this flight the attendants got to know you. They wanted to talk to you especially if you were awake while everyone was asleep. As soon as the flight ended, you felt you were pampered and you didn't feel tired after the flight.
Air Canada, you do a good job. But there is always room for improvement.
