As you may know, I travel quite a lot. Because of this, I fly my countries air carrier Air Canada quite often. Now because of this, I decided to become a member of their Frequent Flyer Program called Aeroplan. And soon, I was reaping the benefits.
Registration
Registration was easy. I registered through their website at http://www.aeroplan.com . Here I clicked on registration and in a few minutes, I had a number and I could print out a temporary card. My friend told me that phone registry is also quite fast and easy. It's also free. In a few weeks, my card came through the mail. With this, I could start collecting at other places.
Starting to Earn.
With Aeroplan, I can earn at many places
1) StarAlliance
Because Air Canada is a member of Star Alliance, I can earn miles on other Star Alliance Airlines such as United, British Midlands, All Nippon Airways, SAS
and many others.
I also can earn at the CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerence) Here, they have an AeroMortgage on which your mortgage earns miles and the AEROGOLD Visa card also earns miles.
3) Future Shop
At Future Shop (Canada's Largest Electronics Store), I can earn miles for every purchase I make.
Telus, Canada's Second Largest Telephone company and Primus, another large phone company in Canada lets us earn 5-20 miles per every $ charged on our phone bill.

6)Car Rental
With Hertz, you can earn miles on car rentals in Canada.
Features
Points have no expiry date as long as you fly within 1 year of registering in their program. Miles are accrued by how far you fly. There is also a Kids Aeroplan Program in which young flyers can receive backpacks, games, puzzles and go into contests. Your can also check your mileage balance by going to the website (http://www.aeroplan.com). But in order for this, you will need a Pin Number which you can request on their website.
Rewards
Now for the exciting part. Last month, I had about 40,000 miles (This is after 3 hotel stays, 6 domestic flights a mortgage and credit card point accrual for 5 months) With this, I was able to make a trip to the Carribean and back. With Aeroplan, you are also able to make other rewards such as flights, hotel stays, Car Rentals, Gift Certificates, and more. Flight rewards start at 15,000 (domestic flights in Canada with return) and go to 60,000 (To Asia, Australia etc. with return). Hotel stays at Best Western and Delta Hotel start at 10,000 points.
Reedeem
Reedeeming is simple. I called the Toll-Free number and the operator was able to get the flight processed and soon I had tickets to the Bahamas. Plane tickets can also be reedeemed on-line at the website.
Flipside
There are some flaws to the program. For example, when shopping at the Future Shop, a lot of the time, the points aren't added to my account. Because of this, they tell you to go to the Customer desk with receipt within 30 days and they'll credit your account. Despite this, sometimes miles are still not credited. Another thing is that if you lose you card, it costs $10 Canadian (about £3) and it has to be paid by credit card.
In Conclusion...
In Conclusion, the program is pretty good. If the flaws can be corrected, I'd probably give it 5 stars. But, if your a frequent world traveller, there are many oppourtunities to earn miles with Aeroplan. To Register, or find out more go to their website.

I'm with Aeorplan too and earned Prestige status for this year. Can't stand AC though. Most of my travel is on Star Alliance, but Aeroplan is the best FFP. Harry
