I'm not a seasoned flyer. I have only ever flown on holiday twice in my whole sad little life.
I must say that Air France did a very good job when I flew with them from Newcastle to Paris CDG and back.
On the way there, they were polite, all crew spoke English, and the flight was good.
It was coming back however, that they really impressed me. We got lost in CDG. A bit stupid of us really, but it is MASSIVE and there was a security scare which meant it took ages to get through the gates. In the end, we missed our flight. It was very traumatic. We had a two year old with us who had been on the go since before breakfast so was getting a bit fractious. We then had to go back through control, along with everyone else who got caught up in the security scare. It was very busy, and we had visions of us having to stay in the airport overnight to get on a flight the next day.
Once we found Air France ticket office, the staff were great. They found us seats on the next flight, which was only another four hours away and would mean we would get home that night, albeit very late. I was all ready just to hand them a blank cheque out of sheer desperation and gratitude, but they booked us on the flight with no charge, even though our tickets were non-transferable.
I have quite good french language skills, but they spoke to me in English throughout, which was good as I really was not in the mood by this point!
We made sure we got through the gate in plenty of time this time. Sure enough, there was the inevitable delay, but Air France made sure we were ok, were kept informed and had something to eat and drink, which was great as we had spent the last of our cash earlier that day.
Once the flight arrived, our toddler was asleep in my arms and, as it was raining, the steward pushed me to the front of the queue to get on the plane first. They couldn't do enough for us, carrying our pushchair and luggage too.
I recommend Air France. They were fantastic for us, and we only went with them because they were the cheapest at the time!
