My husband and I were travelling to Cuba in February this year and connected with an Air Jamaica flight in London.I must admit,check-in was a bit strict but staff were there to direct you to what you had to do and that went off without a hitch.So did boarding the plane and that's where it all started going wrong!We were delayed for an hour due to flight computer problems and were only informed of the reasons why when someone asked after 50 minutes.It's a long,long flight to Cuba and the entertainment was nil apart from a short fashion show.Everyone put on headphones and began to listen to the film but only got music!When I finally went to inform the staff,nobody moved from behind their curtain,only pointed out which station I should be on.I did tell them that I had tried all stations without success but it took them 1/4 of an hour to come out from their quarters to tell everyone that there was a technical fault so they restarted the film,same story,so they restarted the film...and again and again before telling us that they couldn't fix it.They then forgot to brighten the lights again for anyone who would like to read.What they didn't say was that they knew already about this problem as we found out from others at our hotel who'd travelled there the previous week and who'd had the exact same problem including the delay due to flight computer problems.We were supposed to get the champagne breakfast etc. but,as we were at the back of the plane,they'd ran out by the time they got to us,same with the wine,gin and tonic and beer at every other meal.We did get offered coke,juice or water which went down a treat with my husband.The return journey was almost a repeat of this but this time,I could listen to the film as long as I held the earphone plug firmly in place but my husband's was off altogether.On calling the stewardesses attention to this,she tried to get it working a couple of times then shrugged her shoulders,apologised and moved off saying she hoped it didn't spoil my husband's enjoyment of the film!!!We had a scheduled stopover at Kingston which we were told would be an hour by the staff but when we got off discovered it would be 2 &1/2 hours.When we got to Heathrow,I've never been so glad to see the back of a plane or it's crew as I was then,I was highly surprised to see good opinions written about this airline.My husband did write a letter of complaint to the company also informing them that on arrival at our hotel and opening my suitcase,all my jewellery was gone-great start to a holiday- which it only took them 3 months to acknowledge with the hope that we'd travel again with them soon and absolutely no mention of investigating where my jewellery could possibly have been taken.Anyone travelling with this company has my most heartfelt condolences.
