I recently travelled with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Los Angeles and found the service to be first class. I got the seat as part of a seat sale and was concerned about the quality of service I would receive but I shouldn't have worried as it was excellent and I will definetly use them again.
I took the seats because they were cheaper than all the other fares I had been quoted and because the flights were direct and in the end this proved to be of great benefit.
The whole service from check in right threw to the flight inself was excellent. The staff were all very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We received 3 meals onboard and had free drinks for the duration of the flight. There was also a lot of entertainment which was suitable for the whole family including 3 films fresh from the cinema.
I would encourage anyone who wants to fly to America to use Aer Lingus.
