We use Aer Lingus and Ryan Air quite often (see my review under Ryan Air). On the whole I have found the Aer Lingus service to be entirely satisfactory, and price wise they can sometimes be more competitive than Ryan Air (watch out for their Companion Fares). I don't feel there's much to choose between the two, and the only major disadvantage seems to be you can't book on line. The service provided is always to a high standard, both in the air and on the ground, and unlike Ryan Air staff the telephone bookings team seem only to pleased to tell you about special offers and suggest alternative dates for lower prices. In terms of pricing, Ryan Air probably do provide more of the cheaper flights but there can be difficulty in obtaining these if your travel plans are not flexible. If using Aer Lingus and there's more than one person travelling it's best to book well in advance to get a Companion fare, if available.
