Air Southwest !! Was it their fault?
Air Southwest operate internal flights from Plymouth, Newquay, Bristol and Leeds Bradford. They also have flights to Manchester, Newcastle, Dublin, Cork, Jersey, London, Glasgow and Chambury. The flight my partner and I caught last week-end was the WOW480 flight from Bristol to Leeds Bradford.

WOW is was not !

I have travelled to Leeds on several occassions but via road not ...
...now explaining that due to air - traffic congestion above we wouldn't be taking off until 10am!!!! So much for flying being quicker. An hour flight apparantly, 10.05 and we on the plane, on the runway, on a stand still.

I had to laugh though - reading my stars from my recently purchased New mag, it said "It's true, you're trapped. You have soaring ideals, adventurous plans and worthy ambitions, but you're stuck in a rut" ... more

Air Southwest

Advantages: Customer Service, Regional Destinations
Disadvantages: Can be expensive for late bookings

...COMPANY and THE PLANE Air Southwest is a small airline based in Plymouth and Newquay and operates between 12 destinations all over the UK and Ireland. During the winter they have also been flying to Grenoble for the skiers in the region. They fly Bombardier dash 8 Q300 aircraft - this translates as a prop plane with 50 seats on board with the same seat layout as you would find on most coaches - two on the left and two on the right. For your convenience ...
...not hesitate to travel with Air Southwest again and even would be prepared to pay a little more if the level of service remained as high! Compared with the trains it is rather more civilised and certainly less stressful than driving. They may fly near you - have a look at www.airsouthwest.com for flights and offers. Happy Travelling! :) ...

Bmibaby flights from Newquay to Manchester

Advantages: An affordable alternative to rail travel
Disadvantages: Nothing significant if you accept that it is a no-frills airline

My experience of flying with bmibaby has been three return trips from Newquay to Manchester. The fares were excellent (better than Air Southwest's fares for the same route and rail fares for the dates of travel), particularly when I booked well in advance. There was only one significant delay, of an hour, while an indicated engine problem was investigated. I couldn't complain too much about this safety first approach except that the hour was spent at Newquay Airport where the airside facilities are dire. With one exception, one of the older check-in staff at Manchester who seemed to have an 'attitude' with my teenage son, the staff have been generally friendly. With the exception of a flight attendant, who wouldn't let me use a digital camera to take a 'perfect' photograph the biomes of the Eden Project as the Boeing 737 banked ...

Review of Cornwall (England)

Up, up and away (fly like a bird)

Advantages: breathtaking journey and scenery, wonderful islands to visit
Disadvantages: a bit pricey and the islands are a bit pricey for bus transfers and boats etc

28 miles South-West of Lands End in Cornwall, lie the Isles of Scilly. Reached by air or ship, they are said to be the lost lands of Avalon (according to King Arthur's legends). Sounds beautiful doesn't it. Believe me when I say that it is. For the second time, I have reached these not-so-far-off lands in the best way possible - by helicopter. This is a thrill in itself anda wonderful beginning to a holiday or day trip to the Scillys. Based on the outskirts of Penzance, just off the main A30 is Penzance Heliport which is the home to British International Helicopters. Please don't make the mistake of thinking that these are pleasure trips, it would be offensive to do so. They are a reputable airline that has been operating this service to the Scillys for 37 years. You fly in one of their two 30 seater (plus dog cage) Sikorsky ...
