The only reason we chose this flight was because it had a VERY low price, compared to the other airlines. We booked this flight in around Sept/2004 and were leaving on it on oct/15/04.
Conpared to the other reviews i think this sirline was better. they have made some MAJOR changes on their flights. I heard the charges of their headphones were $5 can. but not now, they changed it to $2 can. The meals were the not the best, but have to say they were good; we got a Pasta dinner; it came with pasta (it had some spinnach on it.),bread bun with butter and strawberry jam, Some fresh chopped fruits, a piece coffee cake, and they're new change they gave out free water, coffee tea( you had to purchase that before). To all kids under 16 they gave out a gameboy-like games for no charge.
here's the bad part. when we left from Toronto to Birmingham, the plane had some maintainence problems; the plane had already reversed from 'its parking spot', that is whewn they realized the engine-turbines were not working well. so the plane went back into'its parking spot' and the maintainance crew came in and fixed the problems. the flight directors took us through every step. They then reversed away from the 'its parking spot' again. This time they realized they had lost alot of fuel, so they went back in 'its parking spot' and refueled. Now this time, finally everything was alright and the plane took off perfectly. that procedure took about two hours, so our flight had delayed two hours. in the flight, the seatbelt sign went off for about two minutes and went back on again because of the tubulance the plance was having. I have experienced turbulance in flight as number of times. This plane was a airbus 310-300 it was a new aircraft. the seating configuration was 3-3-3 and the last five rows were2-3-2. The plane was having a VERY tough time in the air. The turbulance was very bad, the plane suddenly drops then rises, or the planne suddenly tilts and on an angle i felt like throwing up all flight long. The seats were leather, and very narrow so you coudnt even turn, now im a 13 year old boy medium sized. THAT WAS THE WORST FLIGHT EVER!!!!!! (sorry). Even though They tried their best to make the ride comforting. overall i rate this flight 4/10
On the way back birmingham to toronto the flight was 10x better. First they gave out free gameboy-like games to everyone under 16, thins time the seats were cotton (jeans-like fabric) trust me they are much better, and i am a fan of leather but there are much more comfortable. they also gave out a blanket and a pillow. this time our seats were the first seats on the right that gave us WAY mare leg room, the TV (an flat screen 17" TV) was right in front of us. There were tree seats, but only me and my sister were sitting there so the seat in the middle was empty, that gave us more space. This time i enjoyed the flight very much. We watched a movie Called "Terminal" it was a vey funny movie. In the beginning they give episodes of "GAGS_JUST FOR LAUGHS" they also played the movie Shreck 2. The food was the same as last time . I guess they give the same meals every-time. This time there was NO turbulance at all. Overall i rate this flight 8/10 .
So it depends on where and when you're going. For example, when i was going to england and it was at 10:00 pm (because our flight delayed) and it was a windy and rainy day. When i was coming to Canada it was day-time all flight long and the weather was good so the plane rode through comfortably. This airline does care about safety, thats for sure; i saw that much. Air Transat is overall a preety good airline.
