An African airline giving British standards
Review of Comair (South Africa) by Vodkaboy

Advantages: BA standards in southern Africa, LAst-On-First-Off baggage
Disadvantages: Don't seem to be as friendly as they were

I recently flew with Comair for the first time in several years. I had flown with them several times back in 1996 and 1997, and was quite impressed. In March I flew with them again. Who Are Comair? Comair started life as Commercial Airways in 1946, with a solitary aircraft. They have developed steadily over the following 50 years, as one would have hoped, and in 1996 they joined forces with British Airways to become the first BA franchisee outside ...
...One great little extra that Comair offer is a "Last On, First Off" hand baggage service. If you have any bulky cabin baggage, or a bag that really is too big to take on board, you leave it at the bottom of the steps. It then gets left on the tarmac and the plane then takes off without it... no, not really. They load it into a dedicated hold then, when you arrive, they quickly unload the hold so as you walk down the steps, your bag is waiting. A great ... Read review

Best way to get to South Africa
Review of South African Airways by lukemillo1

Advantages: Great staff
Disadvantages: none

...time I went on a South African Airways plane was Christmas 2007. Starting from the beginning, the person that i rang to book the tickets was lovely a very nice South African accent, she was very helpful and helped me with the best tickets for the days I wanted. The day of travelling can be very stressful if you are going away for a month and are double, triple checking that everything is turned off and locked. The lady at the check in desk was ...
...people who are going to South Africa to use this airline to any other. Prices vary alot and if you wish to travel in December you have to book in jan. The current prices are around £500 for a return and the high season is between the 6th of December to mid jan which put prices up around £100-£200. ... Read review

Does not live up to hype
Review of Globespan by martika

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: What you pay is not what you get

Did not live up to all the good reviews. I travelled from Edinburgh to Hamilton May 2008. We arrived at the airport and was quickly boarded on the plane. We had booked premier seats together, when we sat down we realised that the plane and crew were all from Iceland, the crew could only understand half of what the Scottish passengers were saying. The seats was dirty and the crew spent all their time with the small amount of business passengers. One ...
...The seat in front of us went straight back due to being broken. When we landed at Hamilton airport in Canada we were greeted by what looked like a industrial estate. On the return flight the flight was delayed but due to the small airport the passengers had to seat outside and there was limited shops and cafes, none of this information is included in the airport information on the sight. ... A classic airline
Review of Olympic Airways - OA by avacarrdo

Advantages: Great seats, friendly, cheerful.
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages

...choice was between Easyjet and Olympic Airlines/Airways (OA). OA won the day. THE COMPANY: OA is Greece's national airline, and was founded in 1957. The company has expanded over the years, amalgamating with other Aviation-related companies. I have found it hard to figure out whether the company is officially Olympic Airlines, or Olympic Airways. In any case, I'm just going to refer to them as OA. Originally based at Athens' old airport, Hellinikon, ...
...time. As Olympic Airways is a full-service airline, you are offered drinks and a full meal onboard. Once we'd taken off, it was a drinks trolley with a small-ish but adeqeute range of juices, soft drinks and alcohol, although they were not accompanied by any nuts or pretzels. The meals on both legs were good; coleslaw and then a main dish of pasta-one way it was spaghetti bolognaise, and on the other it was a pasta bake. They didn't offer you a choice, ... Read review
