Egypt Air - Making long haul pleasurable
Review of EgyptAir - MSR by
sanj77
Advantages: Free Pyramids, Cairo, Giza and Museum tours
Disadvantages: You will want to stay longer!
I see the views regarding Eygpt airs services are rather mixed on here which is understandable as everyone has different expereinces depending on there situation.
After undertaking my first journey with Eygpt airways I must say I found all aspcect of the journey excellent with some great added bonses, which were more to do with the scheduling of the flight but worth having knowelege of if your ever using the airline as these bonuses are standard ... ...Bangkok, Thailand to London Heathrow, England. So breifly the journey schedule:
Bangkok to Cairo - 9 hours Cairo - 5 hours transit stop over
Cairo to London - 5 hours
As you can see not the greatest and finest looking travel itinerary, so you could say I wasnt exactly looking forward to it, infact I was dreading it and especially as I had no experience of Egypt air in the past although it was the cheapest flight back from Thailand at the time, ...

Thomson Long Haul
Review of Thomson by
chriswilcox1980
Advantages: in flight entertainment, reasonable price
Disadvantages: not great service, delays, comfort
Having read other reviews of Thomson flights and spoken to friends who have also flown with Thomson I must say I was quite skeptical about booking with this company. I was partricularly concerned as it is a ten hour flight to Cancun and if the service and facilities weren't up to scratch it would be a nightmare.
I will start with the good points, which I have to admit, are fewer than the bad points. The in flight entertainment was certainly up to ... ...games all contained within the seat back on a touch screen monitor. The entertainment package could also be upgraded for a small fee of five pounds! Whilst I wouldn't say the food was a particular strong point, it was definitely passable, however, I am surprised Aldo Zilli has put his name to it. I found leg room adequate.
Now onto the bad points. Service is satisfactory. Staff seemed more concerned about chatting amongst themselves rather than ...

The "on time airline"?? You get what you pay for
Review of Ryanair - RYR by
lizngaz
Advantages: Cheap flights if you get them in time
Disadvantages: rude staff, dirty planes, not reliable in my experience
...us to go to the Ryanair helpdesk in the next section of the airport.
When we walked through to where all the Ryanair check-in desks are, and also their helpdesk, we saw a massive group of people who looked like they were queing for the help desk. I wasn't suprised though because I knew it was a full flight, having checked if the prices of the tickets had gone up in the last couple of days, I found that there were none left for that particular flight.
... ...done lots of research and ryanair itself says that you can fly to the Republic of Ireland with current photo ID, and children flying with adults do not require ID. We had taken my sons birth certificate, just in case, but couldn't find my daughters so took her out of date passport instead. The person at the check-in desk asked if we had birth certificates for the children, so I explained what we had brought and she accepted them with no problems ...

Sold its customers short!
Review of Thomas Cook Airlines (powered by Condor) by
lightningwinger
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Rude, unfriendly, dangerous, and uninterested in customer satisfaction
...the terrible experiences on board Thomas Cook Airlines. The first time i flew with Thomas Cook was a few years ago when going to Florida. I arrived at the airport very excited as this was my first long haul flight. After waiting in the checkout queue for well over an hour with no explaination for the delay, a solitary Thomas Cook rep came out with a pile of letters, gave them to the person at the front of the queue and told them to take one and pass ... ...and again there was no Thomas Cook rep in sight. On returning to the UK we found out why the 23 hour delay was caused. An airliner in Canada had broken down so Thomas Cook loaned one of its aircraft to it as the payment they recieved as compensation from the other airline was more than the cost of putting us up in a hotel for the night. Not really doing much in the way of making its own customers happy. But what made us even more infuriated was the ...

Monarch Midget Airlines
Review of Monarch Airlines by
holidayhell
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Increased risk of blood clots
Monarch seats are appalling. They squeeze in extra rows and then try to charge ludicrous extra charges for extra legroom, but this doesn't solve the very narrow width. It's impossible to move your arms without disturbing your neighbour and god help you ( and them) if they are a little over weight. It's an airline for midgets! The aircraft are well worn, everything is charged at top prices, there's an air of grubbiness. Having flown with them to Goa ...
