Advantages: Cheap flights from Glasgow to Gran Canaria Disadvantages: Delays not uncommon - so i'm told
i have flew with flyglobespan for the last 3 years from Glasgow to Gran Canaria. The first couple of years were without incident but this year the flight was delayed by 5 hours approx there and back!!!! Which was not amusing when it takes 3 hours to get the airport from our home location. Why book with flyglobespan you ask then? Well the answer is because it is a Scottish airline and flights are leaving from Glasgow - for some reason the majority ... ...holiday in the Uk. As you may be aware bank holidays in the uk are not the same in Scotland. Therefore, the flights are always between £50 and £100 cheaper per person. If there is a family of four flying to Gran Canaria or wherever then £400 is a lot of savings. Basic flight - you can chose if you want to upgrade to seats with more leg room, or meals etc. But if you're looking for a bargan flight - don't discount flyglobespan. its worth a look . ...

Loganair is an airline based in Glasgow and dates back to 1962. It is responsible for flights to and from some of the most remote parts of the UK, and it has a fleet of 14 Saab 340 aircraft, 2 Britten Norman Islander planes and my favourite 2 Twin Otters.
The aircraft are small and carry passengers to locations such as Shetland, Orkney, and Benbecula and are regularly serviced in hangars in Kirkwall in Orkney with the main one being at Glasgow.

Yes thanks to Loganair this is one of my most treasured memories and one which I think few know even exists.

Advantages: Clean aeroplanes, Courteous staff Disadvantages: On board snacks are pricey
I use First Choice airlines about 3 times a year. Often the flights appear to be cheaper than others, escpecially if you book well in advance. I havent had a bad experience yet. The seating area is about average for the price one would pay, however when we took a long haul flight to USA we found that the legroom was much more and was great. Clearly not all passengers now have onboard meals. In light of that they do offer a trolley service with a ... ...a cup of tea would set you back about £2.60. When travelling outbound from UK you are charged in GBP, travelling inbound back into the UK you are charged in EUROS or whatever currency you are coming back from. The downside to this is that they do not pay your change in that currency, in fact they give you your change in GBP, which is clearly a bit of a con and one loses out marginally. My advice is to pack up to avoid the onboard snack prices if ...

Air Southwest is a small airline based in Plymouth and Newquay and operates between 12 destinations all over the UK and Ireland. During the winter they have also been flying to Grenoble for the skiers in the region. They fly Bombardier dash 8 Q300 aircraft - this translates as a prop plane with 50 seats on board with the same seat layout as you would find on most coaches - two on the left and two on the right. For your convenience ... ...not hesitate to travel with Air Southwest again and even would be prepared to pay a little more if the level of service remained as high! Compared with the trains it is rather more civilised and certainly less stressful than driving. They may fly near you - have a look at www.airsouthwest.com for flights and offers.

Advantages: Friendly, courteous staff, comfortable seating, good food. Disadvantages: None
...a long haul flight on BMI to Las Vegas. I have always flown Virgin Atlantic before which I think are great and was somewhat sceptical about BMI. I dont like flying much and choose to fly usually on a 747 jumbo because they dont suffer much from turbulence and feel much more steadier. The BMI plaine was an airbus which is smaller. For our outward journey we had upgraded to Premium and it was fabulous! I had read that BMI had revamped their first class ... ...Virgin (I dont know the measurements) but I certainly didnt feel cramped up or penned in. Again the food and service was very very good and we were treated with friendliness and courtesy througout. Overall our BMI experience was excellent and I would defiinately fly with them again! ...
