American Airlines
Advantages: Well Priced Disadvantages: Rude Cabin Crew let others down
...reason we decided to use American was because for the 4 of us they were around £200 cheaper than BA.
Going There-
--Check in and Boarding--
We tried to check in online as we have done with other airlines but the website wouldnt let us and said we needed to check in at the airport instead.
We could enter all our personal information onto the website though which would save some time at check in.
We used the self service checkin which wouldnt ... ...customer service clerks said we could check in self service then they would check our bags at the desk.
This all went without a hitch.
Off to boarding. Once your boarding pass was checked so confirm you were going onto the right flight, they sent you to another queue where the lady sent you either to her left or right. We couldnt figure the difference between the queues until we got to the front......she was deciding who was to get searched (again!). ...

Shame about the little extras
Advantages: attentive service, friendly cabin crew Disadvantages: had to take own luggage to connecting flight
...month I booked tickets with US Airways. I have never flown with them before and thought it would be a good experience to try an American airline.
An added experience was we had to change flights at Philadelphia but I thought this would be a simple process and would be in line with what I had previously been used to.
The cabin crew staff were friendly and polite and the service they provided throughout the flight could not be faulted. The aeroplane ... ...the seat in front of us and we thought this was great as we would be entertained throughout the journey.
We noticed there were no headsets available and after takeoff we discovered that headsets were an extra which we would have to pay for. Headsets were being charged at US$3.00 each which admittedly was not a lot and you could keep them but how often do people re-use their headsets again after a plane journey? I thought it was slightly unreasonable ...

Good Gatwick-based American carrier
Advantages: Good, efficient service; Gatwick convenience Disadvantages: Not as exciting as other trans-Atlantic alternatives
...there's every reason to praise Delta for their trans-Atlantic service.
First of all, they use the more spacious North Terminal at Gatwick, and perhaps because they're not as popular or well-known as other operators in Britain, there's never, ever a queue at check-in if you're comfortably early.
Staff are always polite and helpful, a common sign of American carriers in our experience. Timekeeping is another strong point, although sadly their fleet ... ...on their flights. Why can't Delta do the same?
Food is always good quality, but remember this is an American carrier so expect American food. Lots of savoury items where perhaps we'd expect something sweet.
But this is nit-picking; there's no doubting Delta's convenience. From Gatwick you fly into either Atlanta or Cincinnati, and they schedule literally dozens of connecting flights to all major US cities to follow your trans-Atlantic flight. They ...

The flight from hell.
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Everything! Cramped seating, poor food and inflight entertainment
InJanuary 2008 I booked flights to New York with NWA, travelling on October 25th for 5 days. When my husband and I arrived at Humberside airport we were told that we had been put on standby as the flight was so overbooked. We were told we would have to try to sort things out when we arrived in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam we met up with quite a lot of other people who had been put on standby. When we questioned why we were on standby when we had bought ... ...told that they didnt take that into consideration. So we could have bought tickets the day before the flight and got on with no problem. In the end we did get on the flight, but some people were told they would have to wait until the next day.
We started our return journey yesterday. What a nightmare! Our seats were extremely cramped, in the middle of a row of 4. So we didnt feel able to get up and go to the loo when we felt like it as it would ...

Force parents to buy their kids a seat.
Advantages: Free soft drinks, tea, coffee Disadvantages: Abysmal customer services, rude and arrogant staff.
...18 month old terror, I did go to speak to a United customer service representative who dismissed my claims and told me to go to their website.
I paid a lot of money for my seat and only got three quarters of it, I will never use United again. ...
