The flight from hell.

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Everything! Cramped seating, poor food and inflight entertainment

InJanuary 2008 I booked flights to New York with NWA, travelling on October 25th for 5 days. When my husband and I arrived at Humberside airport we were told that we had been put on standby as the flight was so overbooked. Thompson air

Advantages: Friendly, school age children cattered for
Disadvantages: Too small gap for seating

My family and I went on aThompson holiday which used their own planes fly. We were treated very well but the seating was very tight. Our son was eight so did not have a problem but for adults, any more than a few hours and cramp set in. We felt sorry for people with young children because of the room issues. A good airline if you're visiting Iceland

Advantages: You get a movie for only a 3 hour flight, on-demand entertainment if lucky

...in conclusion I'd happily recommend Icelandair if you're travelling to Iceland. I don't think I'd be using them to travel trans-Atlantic however. They are in the process of refitting some of their aircraft to have 3 classes, to include an economy plus section. Flying Air New Zealand - they got me there in reasonable comfort

Advantages: Friendly, good luggage allowance, friendly staff
Disadvantages: More expensive than many

Air New Zealand are towards the upmarket end of the non-luxury airlines. Reliable and professional, they aren't by any means the cheapest, but the Economy class is comfortable, the service excellent and gets you where you need to go.
