There was no reason for my fear. The airport (lento-asema in finish by the way) is very small (some years ago it did win the price as the most clear airport in Europe) and very clear structured. In July 2003 the main terminal was finished and is about 1.000 m² big.

The airport Helsinki-Vantaa is about 1/2 Stunde from the City of Helsinki (about 19 km) and about 25 km from Tapiola in Espoo. For 4,90 € the bus takes you from the airport to the centre of Helsinki. And Helsinki is worth at least a weekend trip! Direct bus connections are available also in other town for really acceptable prices.

If you get off the plane it’s only a few meters (no long walking distances as in the bigger airports) to the baggage claim - I was flying there two times and the bags always arrived unbelievable fast – and a few meters further is the exit. When my sister came to see me I noticed that also the picking up of visitors is easy. You just can’t miss each other!
Concerning the Check-in – I can’t complain. Structured. Fast. Friendly. Helpful. Done.
After the security controls you get on to the numberous shops and restaurants, that shorten your waiting time. And if the prohibition of smoking in the main areas is still valid – thanks!
I enjoyed my stay in Finland and I’m sure the great service at the airport did the own part for this.
Advantages: New aircraft with on demand entertainment Disadvantages: A stop in Helsinki for long haul trips
I'd never flown with Finnair before, but recently they've been strongly advertising their fares to Asia and they are actually cheaper most of the time than other airlines. The only disadvantage is that you have to stop off in Helsinki, but that's fine with me if the airline is decent and it saves me some money. My trip took me from Amsterdam to Seoul and back.

Finnair are Finland's main airline, based at Helsinki-VantaaAirport. Founded in 1923 they are currently majority owned by the Finnish government. They are a member of the Oneworld alliance.
Booking
With Finnair being a major scheduled airline you can find them on all the usual online booking sites and they can of course be booked via a travel agent. I found that the cheapest way to book with them was directly via their website (this is not ...

Advantages: friendly staff, partly a modern fleet, i felt really safe Disadvantages: a bit cramped
This is my very first review on Ciao UK, I hope you like it.
Last Wednesday I returned home from a short trip to Helsinki. We flew there, and naturally also back again, with the Finnair, the national carrier of Finland and around those is to be today in my review.
1. First of all...some general information
As said, Finnair is the national carrier of Finland. 60% the Finnair belong also to the state. The home airport is the airportHelsinkiVantaa and the IATA code, which one finds before the flight number of each Finnair flight, reads AY. Official name of the Finnair is today Finnair Oyj. in former times, at present their establishment in the year 1923 was called it still aero O/Y, since 1953 carries it only for the names Finnair. It is by the way the fifth-oldest airline of the world. The first flight went 1923 from Helsinki ...
