Advantages: A great, quiet rural place to stay while visiting Angkor Disadvantages: None
...available on every street if you want to travel further afield.
There are places to email from in SiemReap- several internet cafes. There is also a covered market where you can buy interesting trinkets etc.
We made sure we paid a trip to Angkor Massage, where blind people are trained in the art of massage ($3). Slightly painful, but needed after wandering around the temples at Angkor, and all in a good cause!
As well as visiting Angkor, we went to the landminemuseum (4km from Angkor). It is run independently of the government, it is not popular for this reason, and has been forced to close in the past.
A (very) brief overview of what the muesum is all about:
Cambodia has a troubled and violent past. In 1969, the US dropped half a million tons of bombs on the country as they carpet-bombed suspected communists. Cambodia was dragged...

Advantages: Stunning amazing place Disadvantages: Time and distance to get there
...in your room from the heat and the walking of Angkor.
Angkor itself is truly amazing and it would be impossible to take in all the sights in a few days but all good guides will ensure you find the best.
We flew from Ho Chi Min to Siemreap which was quite an adventure the plane had thirteen passengers on board. 11 korean tourists and my husband and I. Siemreap airport had the lowest level of security of any airport I have travelled from (perhaps this was also more apparnet as we had flown from Vietnam where they take things very seriously!)
Anyone considering going to cambodia go now, don't hesitate it really is wonderful....

Advantages: A different Asian culture Disadvantages: Commercialised

The small temples in Angkor Thom or those outside the Angkor Park are worth visiting. Cambodia is an interesting country with a sad history. It's developing now and the government ensures that there is zero crime to make it safe place for tourists.
Getting there :
My friend and I took AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur (capital of Malaysia) - (departs at 7am in the morning) and it's a 2-hour flight. You can book your air tickets from the its website and you can get it for less than RM500 return (approx. £ 70). Since it's a budget airline, you have to book early for cheap fares.
You can also fly direct to SiemReap from Bangkok, Phnom Penh and Singapore.
Hotel:

Here we are in the midst of 80's and early 90's revival, and I for one am definitely a fan of the cartoons of those eras! I love many cartoons of today, but I can't deny the quality of storyline and drawing that was so common of cartoons at that time,... more
