Millennium Hotel - Abu Dhabi

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: More of a business Hotel than for lesuire

I decided to treat my mum and me to a short break to Abu Dhabi last year and choose the Millennium Hotel to stay in. We managed to find a taxi easily enough at Abu Dhabi airport and after a short drive (30mins) we arrived at the hotel. On first impressions I was a little disappointed. I had all these grand images in my head, but in reality the hotel seemed pretty standard. The room itself was quite basic (considering the price we paid), but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel does have a nice swimming pool (although a little on the small side) and area for catching some sun. Getting around Abu Dhabi was fairly easy, taxi's are always available and very cheap. One trip I would recommend is the desert safari and evening barbecue. Driving up and down the sand dunes in the deserts was thrilling, I was ...

Review of Millennium Hotel, Abu Dhabi

Great value half-way between Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Advantages: Peaceful, lovely pool, helpful staff, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Middle of nowhere, food not brilliant.

-day for a 2pm check-in. Problems were solved in a friendly way, though lack of English made things difficult (i.e. we needed more toilet paper and could not make this understood on the phone, staff had to come round and see what we meant). Restaurant service was very attentive, with plates cleared/drinks offered promptly. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as a relaxing, pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai/Abu Dhabi. There is nothing to do nearby so you need transport, however, they are building a new international airport at Al Jazira and a Palm development is under construction nearby, so in a year or so this should be in a more happening area. For now though, it's a little oasis of peace. ...

Palace aforethought

Advantages: Architecture, atmosphere, good food and service
Disadvantages: A few dodgy facilities; noises off at night

with fort-palace, was visible ahead, but it looked puny, a mere bump up from the surrounding plain, with a few equally unimposing hills behind it. Soon, the industrial zone gave way to Neemrana village, and amid the bustle of the narrow streets we lost sight of our destination, until a couple of turns and a short, curving ascent brought us to its outer gates. Here things began to look up, as did we, at the ramparts towering above us. The gates are massive, perhaps four metres high, studded and embedded from head-height upwards with outward-facing iron spikes to deter the use of elephants as battering rams. Once inside between the walls, the path rises and bends sharply, to prevent assailants gaining any momentum in their approach to a second set of gates, equally massive and bespiked. Another short climb and we are comfortably ...
